Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus

I love these sisters! If you look them up, you'll see many variations of the habit--but they aren't all uniform because of the vow of poverty. They keep them, I think, until they wear out!

The Felician Franciscan Sisters do so much, and have so much enthusiasm. It's hard not to get involved after seeing them! But then, I'm biased--I got four years of Felicians during high school! I got to talk with one of their novices, Sr. Mary Grace, last year. Unfortunately, I caught a case of the shy and didn't ask all the questions I wanted to!

Check them out, they are great!

That photo, yes, but I was referring to the one where the two nuns are making altar breads together and one is in brown and the other in blue, but apart from that, their habits look identical. That's why I wondered if some were extern but they wouldn't be making altar breads anyway, so it is a puzzle and a mystery to me. There aren't any lay sisters any more or I would have guessed that. The other explanation of course is that the blue one is visiting the brown community! lol

Max posted some blue nuns but their tocques don't have the 'white fingers' sticking out from under the scapular. I am very curious but like Max, couldn't find anything else posted about them. That particular community doesn't appear on the OCD website!

Oh I love Google translate - these are sisters of Caramel and eat, sleep, pray etc in jail!

Interesting community, do we know if they come under OCarm, OCD or neither at all please?

Here's their website
http://www.hermitsofourladyofmountcarmel.org/

they are affiliated with the ancient observance (O Carm)

I lived next door to them when I was a hermit - Father Romano, the desert Father at Bethleham actually donated the land to them by giving them part of his property - they share the same driveway!

They follow the customs of the discalced order but I don't know if they fall under either, can't find the name of any of the sisters or the brothers to see what they use, lol
