If there is anyone out there willing to help me design a banner for our youth group I would appreciate it. Our volunteer graphic designer is caught up making fliers for our school. Our youth group is "Warriors of the Word" and I would like a banner to include a monstrance and possibly a sword. I was thinking the youth group name could be vertical. It should also say "St. Mary Catholic Church" "Williamston, MI" somewhere on it. There is a lot of flexibility to use your own creativity, I just want it to look cool. I am going to order it through VistaPrint and need to order it in the next week.

Full Bleed Size
95.75" x 30.20"
2432mm x 767mm
4788 x 1510 pixels
Document Trim Size
95.48" x 30.00"
2425mm x 762mm
4774 x 1500 pixels

I am also looking for a logo (like they do at FUS youth conferences) for our parish school of religion theme this year: A Catholic Revolution.

Thanks!

Do the monstrance like a watermark in the background. You do that by doing it in a fabric that is a shade or two darker than the background. Like if the banner background is white, do it in a pale yellow or ecru. On top of that do crossed swords again darker like a rich gold or silver. I love making banners that are 3 dimensional.

I can probably help you- I like to do things like this. Count me in for helping with the logo :) I'll probably send you something in the next day or two.

Sorry, there would be no payment, you would have to consider it a gift to the Church. I can come up with something if I have to using GIMP and the free Christian stock art website, but I would prefer it actually look nice to try to draw more teens in. :)

If I were good at designing I would help but I have ideas.

What about the sword acting as the monstrance with the luna in the hilt and the blade pointing downwards. Then towards the tip of the blade having an open Bible. Under that you can place your youth group name and such. As for a Catholic Revolution logo, I see something based on the Red Faction video game logo.

Take out the hammer and replace with a Crucifix draped with a Rosary.

My thoughts.

I'll take a whack at something later today. I work in vector art primarily, so you'll have to raster-ize and then scale anything I do for yourself, though any printing place worth its salt will take vector art files.

Just as an FYI, the clenched fist is associated with extremely God less organizations.

For a little history on its usage you can go here:

I took it as many people seeing it as being united in a front. That's what many organizations used it for. I did not mean it offensively.

I get tired of groups co-oping icons. I think we should take back the rainbow and the hammer. It should stand for hard work or fighting back.

Rainbow would be easier to reclaim. It is widely used by brands like Skittles (taste the rainbow) and does not have a deeper history other than the Bible.

The clenched fist is another story.
