As sad as I was to read this, alot of this is common among those who identify more with the right than with the left. (shoot...it's the MO here as well) "Social justice" to them is normally hippy jargon for socialism or some other non 'merican malody. They identify with what they agree with (say abortion), and disagree/ignore where they don't. On the flip side of the same coin, those who lean more to the left do the same exact thing, just in reverse polarity. Both claim a more moral highground in what they accept and reject.

It would be nice to have a catholic candidate who took seriously ALL the Church has to say. Methinks it would confuse everyone.

Right, the man definitely isn't a utopian Catholic candidate, however, can we do better? And when it comes to the non-negotiables, is aboriton more important than climate change?

The Onion had a video the other day of the latest Republican candidate. A person with a brown bag over their head, that way when nominated, the identity will be revealed so as to not mire them in the current quagmire of infighting.

That can of peas would be the slimiest of politicians. He hides his "no salt added" while he's on the shelf and then lords it over you once you get home and realize what you bought.

So Santorum isn't for redistribution of wealth. He thinks some people should make more than others. Big deal. He is not required to have the same ideas regarding imigration or health care as the Bishops. Those who trumpet social justice as their main issue generally misrepresent what it means to be Catholic and promote social justice. The ways this can be done are far less black and white than abortion and gay marriage.
