Trousseau Items - A Few Questions

Hi pholks,

I know there are a few of you guys who are preparing for entrance later this year. I remember a while back there was convo going about where to get what.

I have been trying to find some long johns and warm (wool blend) socks but I'm not turning up anything.

Can someone tell me where I might find stuff at a decent price? I also have a ton of other stuff that I'm looking for but I don't have the list handy. All I can remember is the socks (cause when we went on our rosary walks earlier this week my toes were so frozen I thought they were going to fall off!!!)

Thanks pham!

I don't know the color, but these look to have gotten good reviews.

Also, be sure to consider that you will not want wool socks in the summer. Maybe you could get a few high-quality wool pairs, and the rest "regular" knit/cotton/acrylic, that will be cheaper. If all else fails, doubling up is an option (this might not have occurred to you as a Floridian :P )

It totally didn't occur to me. I was looking at one of the links MM gave me and there are Liner socks (I'm thinking what the heck is that?) and then I realize in some areas pholks put socks on top of socks!!!!

Who knew?

Thanks MM,

That site is very helpful (the STP one)

How much are you willing to spend ? Land's End has some nice stuff and is very good quality.

I am hoping to get everything on my list (excluding the books needed) for no more than $250 (God help me find a wool coat as part of that price)

Long (like that helps much) I am about 5'3" so something that comes down midcalf maybe? and it needs to be black like all nunly coats.

Did you get all of the stuff on your list already? I got fitted for my jumper and don't have to buy a blouse so yay! :) now I just need to keep trucking and do what I need to do to be debt free by August 22nd!!!

p.s. I am just as bored (Even though I'm sure I could find something to do)

Divine Mercy 9999

I got a lovely black wool coat at the thrift shop for $16.50. I'm plus size, too. I had despaired of finding one that I liked and that fit even in the regular stores.

I think I'm going to start looking at goodwill. I have a nice grey one that was handed down to me (and it's silk-lined) and the original owner found it at Goodwill about 20 years ago. She handed it to a friend of mine who then handed it down to me. Now it looks like it might make its way back to the original owner's daughter lol

This http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/topic/116377-trousseau-for-carmel-what-to-bring-suggestions-welcome/page__hl__%2Btrousseau+%2Bcarmel__fromsearch__1 was a really good thread about trousseau items - I ended up finding perfect postulant skirts via a recommendation from that thread.

I have to say, much as I rain on the Romantic Parade, it is quite fun to get your nun stuff together (money notwithstanding :)). There is an air of Christmas over it all

With the coat make sure is is super warm. SrMJ is always concerned about you freezing when you come!
I'm not sure if they have them out in FL but ARC is another thrift shop that you might want to look at for the coat

As for the socks these are slightly expensive but I have some (or some really similar) and they are warm and last forever.

Here is another option, again a bit expensive but Eddie Bauer stuff lasts a long time and it has a lifetime guarantee if it doesn't

Me too, sigh. I'm so glad you're almost there HB. I can't offer any recommendations on clothes unfortunately.
