Rush Limbaugh: Certified Cretin

I've debated internally if I should broach this topic since I don't want to give him the publicity but my contribution should be negligible.

As many people should know, Rush Limbaugh refuted any doubt that he is a genuine dishonorable piece of poo when he called a Georgetown law student who wanted to testify to congress the need for woman to have access to health care. Whatever you think of the contraception mandate, and I understand why reasonable people feel strongly against it, there is no possible excuse for Limbaughs comments about this young woman who is not a professional pundit or politician.

If you listen to Rush Limbaugh I chalenge you to explain how you as a Catholic justify listining to him this very crass decision to attack this young woman's behavior and character to get some quick, cheep publicity.

That first video was the first offense, by the way. He doubled down and really became only more offense over the next few days.

I never liked the dude. His voice alone irritated the poo outta me. If ever he said something decent it was negated by the sound if his voice.

Horrible and disgusting. This guy doesn't do us any favors. With allies like this who needs enemies? Now we get to have the whole situation be about HIM instead of the serious conscience rights at stake. Thanks a lot Rush.

I actually find the uproar over this a little bit nutty... I'm no fan of limbaugh, but it's clearly hyperbole. if you want to force people to pay for your contraceptives, then you're basically asking people to pay you (in free products--contraceptives) to have sex. It's not a personal attack on the girl.

maybe the use of the word "silly sally" was too much, the analogy would've been better served just saying "prostitute". you want people to give you stuff so you can have sex, you want people to financially support your sexual activities... well, then, I think it's fair to make an analogy to prostitution. sorry, but it's a fair analogy. maybe not fair to single this particular girl out on it.

Rush Limbaugh is more entertainment than political analysis.

For what political analysis he does offer, is generally spot on. I think he's terribly arrogant in his presentation of his ideas though, and that is a big reason I don't listen to him. That and some of the callers call in and adore him as much as some democrats acted like Obama was the Second Coming when he was elected. Some still act this way about Obama even with the continued mess of this country

Aloysius has it right. Limbaugh in his entertainment form is hyperboling this, but the political analysis of the point is correct.

Yes, it is hyperbole. That's why it is offensive. It is highly hyperbolic slander against this young woman. He's a bully and a pig.

No. I think she deserved to be called a silly sally an a national radio program.

I guess you don't know what prostitution is. I don't know what to say. You are a very smart guy. I don't see how you can honestly conflate supporting a law where your insurance provider must cover contraception and being paid by someone to provide sexual services.

I think insurance providers should have to cover contraception. I guess by your logic I'm a John.

He apologized because he realized that this time he was going to take a financial hit. He has no integrity. This is the same man who got caught coming back from the Dominican Republic with an opened bottle of Viagra. Hm. I wonder what an unmarried, wealthy man who doing with Viagra in the Dominican Republic.

Wake up. This man is a charlatan

. I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

If you can read that, while thinking of the multiple pronouncements he made about this girl over the course of several days, and believe it is sincere then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. You're the conservative equivalent of the liberals who believe that Anthoney Weiner was sorry for anything other than getting caught in his lies.

Did I ever say that what the Huff-Po posted was not offensive? I never claimed that it was not offensive. I said multiple times that it is perfectly reasonable for any Catholic reading it to find it offensive. What I did say, was that it was not anti-Catholic, that it's intent was to satirize Satorum, not incite hatred against Catholics.

Do you support what Limbaugh said about this woman?

Yeah, Rush Limbaugh is not someone I've ever willingly listened to, and this is an example of why. Just because the girl wants someone else to pay for her contraception doesn't mean she's being promiscuous. She might well have a long-term boyfriend she's faithful to.

And paying to make and keep someone essentially sterile is not the same thing as paying them to have sex. While I bet Fluke could get cheaper contraception, and I don't see why anyone else should pay for her contraception, I do think that what Rush Limbaugh said was inexcusable.

But everything he says is said in about the most uncharitable way possible- at least that's what I remember. (There used to be a shuttle driver at my university who listened to him all the time.) Still, that doesn't really make it better or okay.

Well, this is obviously why you're not Catholic. Contraception is evil and it needs to be stopped this instant. The health risks it brings to women alone is enough to take it off the markets. If Tylenol gave women an increased risk of breast cancer, preclampsia, heart attacks, strokes, blood clots, thinned bone marrow, countless problems with the reproductive system, and a whole lot more, the company would be sued. But contraception isn't because it's contraception.

Bingo. Robert Byrd apologizing for having been a klansman didn't make him any less of a supremacist butt-chapeau. The only reason a politician will ever apologize is for damage control.
