CRAZY DOPE POST, YO!

It's true! It's not a really big one, but it's a razzle dazzle one!

The front cover ---^

It's a not-for-profit art magazine called Patchwork. They sell copies to raise money for Food for the Poor. All the writers and artists donate their work, and volunteers put the layout together. It's very much an amateur project, but it's something I gladly stand behind, and I plan on contributing again, if they'll let me.

I don't know if they're planning on selling digital copies or not. It sounded like they only sell hard copies in their town. Most of the crew, who call themselves Fish Out of Water Media, seem to live in one area and distribute it in person, which is razzle dazzle. But I bet if you begged them they'd send you a PDF and take your money, one way or another. You should donate regardless, because it's razzle dazzle.

And here is some contact info for them:

My cousin's wife worked for the FFP Organization in So. Florida for a couple of years, some time ago. They went through a serious financial scandal back then (maybe 10-12 years ago?) But she was Catholic and went to Haiti a couple of times with them. She become very uncomfortable and quit because they spent alot of time prostelizing evangelical christianity and always gave her a hard time for being Catholic. My Catholic parish (really) down there stopped supporting them. Again, about 10 years ago. I don't know who or how it's run now. Just sharing a bit of cautious question...

But the artwork is razzle dazzle, GOOD JOB. If they're straightened out and feeding the poor, kudos.

I don't see any question marks in your post though. Lol.

Thanks for pointing this out. I have no idea how "legit" Food for the Poor is these days. I know many parishes in my diocese do support them very generously, and I've never heard of any issues so far.

And since you asked, just to make clear: I donated artwork, but I'm not running the magazine and I don't chose who they donate to. But I do think it's razzle dazzle that they're doing this for charity instead of just to enrich themselves.

IMO, being in a magazine is better than being on a boat.

Yeah, you don't need Props in a magazine. Guess that means I don't have to give you any... :P
