I'm feeling a bit melancholy. What do you think of using that melancholy-energy-stuff to write a short story somewhat exploring the true way to die with dignity as opposed to the euthanasia crowd's view?
Good Idea?

Well I'd rather make the melancholy productive than just wallow in it.

When in doubt, always write. Look at it a week or two (or a year or two) later. If it's no good, you can always pitch it. But you personally might benefit from the writing process itself.
