Some things should be gender - neutral: if a boy likes opera and a girl likes fishing etc they should be encouraged to pursue what might be a life long pleasure/ hobby/vocation. We should never limit what our kids can try or enjoy based on their sex. But forcing little boys and girls to play together at the cootie stage ( when they identify more with their own sex) is stupid.

It's one thing to be open to "letting" or encouraging children to enjoy pursuits that are non-traditional for their gender. It's a completely different (and stupid) thing to deny that there are boys and girls at all.
