I'm assuming that our Phearless leader is doing some stuff to speed it up?

Its is actually pretty fast right now...Kinda nice!

dUSt broke it. He said so.

I agree, though, it's fast!

I've been having a horrible ltime getting into the site....

I was trying to find the s l o w thread... but it was so slow it kept timing out before I could do a search!
I was wondering if perhaps dUSt had taken the server off to the woodshed for 'repairs' or something.... :bash:

I am sure he is a good parent to the Board.... does it ever need a time out?

Thank you, dUSt!

i couldnt get on last night... :( i was wondering if it was my device.

Dust.....does it cause more strain on the server to use the full site on a mobile device?

....or was it really mikolbe?

This question needs to be moved to the serious theological discussion board.

Well, I re-compiled my Apache server last night, turned on SuExec with fastcgi as the PHP handler. Seems to be faster for me, but if anyone has any better ideas, let me know.

In the past couple of days I've been timing out a lot. Usually I'll time only time out once or twice a week, but I'm timing out a lot right now. Took me four tries to get into this thread today.

I should also note that when it doesn't time out, it loads immediately, faster than most sites I go to.

Same experience as Brian. Either I can't get on at all (about 90% of time last 2 days) or it is FAST.

Thanks for all you are trying, dUSt. Have you checked with some of the other users of IP Board to see if this could be a glitch in their software? Just a thought.... if other boards are having the same problem, wouldn't necessarily be just a PHATmass problem....

I've disabled the search feature. Using the phorum's search function eats up a lot of server resources.

I'm almost to the point of replacing the search function with a Google search box, which would be used to search all the threads Google has indexed--even though it would not have all the same functionality, such as searching specific boards, or specific members, etc... Still, the trade-off may improve performance and let us open up some of the other functions, such as "Who's browsing this post", etc.

ban everyone, erase every single thread along with all the posts, invest in better forum software and start all over in one month...
