Lucky people working in massively huge parishes. Or not. The trend towards mega-parishes and closing smaller and ethnic parishes is a sign of a weakening Church.

I always hear about kissing the Bishop's ring, but I never did when I was confirmed. Nobody did, to my knowledge.

Your Church Militant tag should be taken away for that. Go to the Bad Catholic thread at this instant! :P

None of my Confirmandi did, so I suppose it'd be a little weird for me to start kissing the bishop's ring out of the blue...

That's not hard to do. What am I, 5'4 or less? I have, however, been doing karate since I was four and I'm about to be a brown belt, one belt away from black. Size matters not (I would do the picture but I've already been made fun of for not being able to)!

How do you get a brown belt? When someone taller and bigger and has a black belt wants to belt ya!

I'm a terrible gentleman, then, because I've sparred with countless girls in karate class. Granted, they had no problem hitting me, especially in between the legs. One female black belt I know is a savage and loves hitting that area all day.

Congrats GW - and to your 62 newly confirmed children as well!

It wasn't kissing the Bishop's ring that bothered me, it was the strike on the face. I concluded in my tender years that it meant "Watch out for Bishops!".................I wasn't personally far wrong actually.

Excess weight can cause less reflexes and thats when things start to tear and break unless the guys like 7ft2in and 160kgs like my cousin. Most guys that are under 6ft5in and between 90-120kgs can be beat by a more compact fitter 2nd 3rd or 4th dan, but remember it is quicker to ascend to the ordinary black belt than to gain dans.
I'm interested in seeing more cappoeta fighters that also do brazillian ju-jitsu as well as salsa/merenga/tango etc for fitness, and work the hell out of the core with various types of push-ups.

Actually its just that the Catholic population here is growing ginormously. We have 6 parishes already in Arlington. One split from ours when the Vietnamese population grew so large they merited a separate parish. The bishop just created a new parish at UNT as well. Nothing closing in the Diocese of Fort Worth!

My other 80 kids will be confirmed on May 31 :winner:
