CRAZY DOPE POST, YO!

For those among us who feel pain on this day

"These are my footprints,
so perfect and so small.
These tiny footprints
never touched the ground at all.
Not one tiny footprint,
for now I have wings.
These tiny footprints were meant
for other things.
You will hear my tiny footprints,
in the patter of the rain.
Gentle drops like angel's tears,
of joy and not from pain.
You will see my tiny footprints,
in each butterflies' lazy dance.
I'll let you know I'm with you,
if you just give me the chance.
You will see my tiny footprints,
in the rustle of the leaves.
I will whisper names into the wind,
and call each one that grieves.
Most of all, these tiny footprints,
are found on Mommy and Daddy's hearts.
'Cause even though I'm gone now,
We'll never truly part."
~Unknown

If Roses Grow In Heaven
If Roses grow in Heaven, Lord,
please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.

Tell her, I love her and I miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.

Remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there's an ache within my heart
that will never go away.

I don't have my Mum with me on Mother's Day as this month marks the 25th anniversary of her death, but I am surrounded by nuns called Mother (Benedictine professed nuns), so I made a Mother's Day card for all my 'Mothers'. On this day, let's also remember all the nuns and sisters who may never had had children of their own, but who are the spiritual mothers of this world.

To wish all of mothers a grace-filled Mother's Day! May God bless them abundantly on this joyful day - and always.
I would like to share with you the following blessing that you might like to pray as you gather for this very special occasion:

Loving Father, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church.
Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

The History behind ancient Mother's Day (not the American one :hehe2: )

Known as Mothering Sunday It was a day in Lent when the fasting rules were relaxed, and being the closest Sunday to the Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

No one is absolutely certain exactly how the name of Mothering Sunday began. However, one theory is that the celebration could have been adopted from a Roman Spring festival celebrating Cybele, their Mother Goddess.

As Christianity spread, this date was adopted by Christians. The epistle in the Book of Common Prayer for this Sunday refers to the heavenly Jerusalem as "the Mother of all us all", and this may have prompted the customs we still see today.

It is known on this date, about four hundred years ago, people made a point of visiting their nearest big church (the Mother Church). The church in which each person was baptised. People who visited their mother church would say they had gone "a mothering."

Later young British girls and boys 'in service' (maids and servants) at the local Manor House or in a Mansion, were only allowed one day to visit their family each year. This was usually on Mothering Sunday.

For some this could be a significant journey since their mother may have lived some distance away, indeed another town altogether from the Manor where they were put in to service. Often the housekeeper or cook would allow the maids to bake a cake to take home for their mother. Sometimes a gift of eggs; or flowers from the garden (or hothouse) was allowed.

"Maids were put in to service for the Landed Gentry and paid a small salary but boarded free of charge. They dealt with everything from cleaning, washing to cooking, so to have a day of rest and be able to visit their mother was quite a privilege."

I am grateful today for all of the amesome moms out there who helped teach me how to be a mom.

This is the quote on the plaque my parents gave me for mother's day (and it's one of my dad's favorites):
"The most important person on earth is a mother. She can not claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral – a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby’s body.

“The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God’s creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creatures. God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation…

”What on God’s good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?”
– Joseph Cardinal Mindszenty

Happy Mother's day to all the mothers, grandmothers, Godmothers, and spiritual mother's.
