Biggest Religious Lawsuit in U.S. History Launched, Liberal Evening News Shows Ignore It

By Brent Bozell | May 22, 2012 | 12:13

Posted Image
The evening news broadcasts all but spiked the largest legal action in history to defend our constitutionally protected religious freedom. The May 21 editions of ABC’s World News and NBC’s Nightly News refused to report the fact that 43 Catholic dioceses and organizations filed a lawsuit on Monday against the Obama administration. CBS Evening News gave this historic news a mere 19 seconds of air time.

I don't watch television, so I don't know if this is accurate or not. Does anyone have TIVO? Can you verify the accuracy of Bozell's times: 0 - 0 - 19 sec?

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

no, the liberal media is not talking about it. Fox repeated it over and over again every hour on the hour. no other news agency is talking about it, but they will be talking about other things...we'll be seeing a lot of stories on the liberal media circuit about strange goings-on behind the scenes at the Vatican and other wild "facts" about the Catholic Church... just wait...

No, only a few seconds from Scott Pelley on the CBS Evening News, like you say, and on PBS.
Otherwise absolutely nothing, as far as I know.
And aside from that the only other "Catholic" "news" they had was about a priest involved in some supposed coverup scandal thing.
I suppose they'll mostly just report bad things about Catholicism from here onward.

The news tends to show their greatest bias in what they choose to report.

In Virginia this year I watched the media transform their opinion greatly based entirely on scare tactics. What was most scary is how the local media began to believe what they were writing when it was clear that no one had read the bill in question, including the governor.

Who cares whether or not the media covers this story? The lawsuit(s) will not be won or lost based on media coverage. The mandate is unconstitutional, and no matter what the suits at NBC, Fox, CBS, ABC, CNN, etc. do, that fact remains.

Helpful hint to avoid future frustration--the media only covers stories they feel are juicy enough to attract viewers and sell advertising. They're out to make a profit, not to "inform."

I'd agree with you, except sometimes it seems they also want to influence the course of events as well.

Anything they do is for the sake of their own self-interest. Sure they want to "influence" things--that's what makes them relevant. But you'd be foolish to count on any media outlet--individually or collectively--to report on any event without the sole intention of making some benjamins.

I agree that the is also valuablecases will be won or lost in the courts. Still, public awareness of court cases is also valuable-useful.

Thanks for the verification.
