If he's such a good buddy, how come you went to the Phatmass meet-up instead of his ordination?

You know, Ardil, MN has more than one diocese. That diocese isn't the be all, end all of Minnesota Catholicism. 
Actually, our ordinations this year are invitation-only, because there are 6 deacons being ordained as priests, and they want to make sure that everyone will be able to fit in the Cathedral. I was going to go, but I guess not...

I believe the ordination in question was Memorial Day weekend-- the same weekend as the meet-up, no?

Dunno. I guess it is what 'last' is relative to. I read post today, but he posted yesterday. So, more than likely 'last' was the meet-up weekend. Our diocese ordinations were this past weekend, which threw me. You a home schooling mom, so you're probably right.
