These people are just so ignorant! I know without a doubt that they twisted the popes words! The Holy Father was a leader in fighting the clerical abuse of children and this...THIS! is abominable! How dare they?!?! :bomb:

If that wasn't bad enough, just look at the comments at the end of the page! They are awful and FULL of lies about the church! Satan is mad! You can tell by work of trash like this!

This make me SO sad  !

They put his word in there but they tried to make them sound like he was out of touch.

Well, this IS the Huffington Post...

You're right but that doesn't mean we shouldn't hold them up to the same standard as everyone else. This type of thing really irks me!

It would be outrageous if there wasn't elements of truth. Admittedly SNAP has an agenda that is helped by sensationalizing the Pope's words with a negative spin, reading the article it does say the abuse was limited to just three diocese and work programs and did not paint it as corruption throughout the entire Church institution. Though it was/is refusal to deal with bad bishops as an institution that has enabled and allowed the evil infinite for decades.
If I was the devil and wanted to harm the Church, it would be a great strategy to convince some members to defend the bishops no matter what and deny all accusations as in founded or unprovable. Then the abuser could continue.

My atheist/agnostic grandma ALWAYS emails me articles about the Church (lately the LCWR) that make my blood boil - on purpose.

When I get those, I reply with, "That's avvesome! Thanks for sharing." They really do not know how to process that response.

Notice the trademark comments about the Inquisition, the enslavement of the faithful, and *drumroll please* the celibacy rule. Hey! Maybe if we let teachers marry they would stop abusing little kids!!!.... Wait....

I haven't had much experience with the Huffington Post, but I will not read the article. I have enough to yell and rant about for now. I'll come back to this once I'm over my Scottish "Catholic" friend that wants to be a Carmelite Nun telling me abortion is okay and it is not technically murder since it happens in another person's body...

She grew up in a Protestant household that was extremely liberal. She converted to Catholicism, but she is still trying to weed out the "liberalisms" as I call them (Note: I do know there are liberals that are in line with Church teaching.). What's even better is she wants to join the most traditional Monastery in all of the UK. She has been accepted, even.

CNN was covering their antics this morning, but framing it as the evil out-of-touch Vatican trying to oppress women's rights.

My atheist/agnostic grandma ALWAYS emails me articles about the Church (lately the LCWR) that make my blood boil - on purpose.

My Atheist/Agnostic dad has harassed my mother about her going to church for 31 years. :| He's harassed me about it for 26.
