This sounds like a really lame topic, I know, but whatever.

I want to learn something new. :bounce:

I've been feeling bored and kinda restless lately -- one can only read, walk, play music and video games so much before it starts to get old.

So I'm looking for suggestions.

What razzle dazzle thing should I take up? :woot:

Not especially ... I like visual arts, but I'm not very good at it. What do you have in mind?

You may laugh at this, but there is always karate to take into account. It's a hobby that will last the rest of your life if it is your kind of thing. I've been doing it since I was four. You could also learn to play guitar or learn to sing. I'm partial to both myself.

was going to suggest artsy craftsy things, like:

sewing
quilting
cross stitch
crochet
pottery
painting
etc

your local community college should have 6 week courses in a lot of this stuff to get you started ;)

bird watching, bird houses, stamp collecting, whittling, knitting, making paper-mache animals/objects/people, balloon animals, juggling, magic tricks, gardening, learning an instrument (including vocals), calligraphy, drawing/painting, pottery, dancing, body building, self defense, swimming, cooking/baking, collecting butterflies, pressing flowers (or just petals) into books, photography, brewing beer, umm... that's all I can think of for now

Painting is fun!!! But I don't really have the dexterity to make anything decent. Haha.

My local community college actually has something called Clay College which is all pottery.

I like beautiful things. Nature photography might be fun. I don't have a SLR camera or anything, but I don't really need one.

that's the fun thing about art - you make want you want to make. i'd encourage you to see if your cc has a course in introductory art or intro painting or something like that.

You could probably do painting if I could learn it. I think.

Photographiy is also a ton of fun. I don't actually have a camera, otherwise I think I'd be taking photos of random stuff every single day. I use my mom's camera enough as it is! lol

I stink at art, but I like to try anyway, I was into sumi-e for a while (as you might have seen in my facebook photo albums).
What about cooking? I love cooking, it can be either as creative or by-the-book as you want!!

Red's completely right. I draw like an idiot, but I keep at it and just say "whatever, I don't care that this bird is gonna look stupid, I'm gonna draw it anyway." Slowly, I've even been getting better. But it's not about how accurate you are, it's about having fun and bringing joy to your day. And it's pretty much gonna be this way with any hobby you start up. You won't have any idea what you're doing and it will look terrible, but it's not supposed to look amazing, it's supposed to be fun.

You don't need an SLR to start with, and if you fall in love with it enough to justify the expense later on then you can invest. :)

I totally would love to get into pottery. I have a friend who makes the most beautiful pieces, mugs, plates, water jugs... I'm in awe of her talent.

I write. Novels and screen plays and short stories and poetry.
And I draw manga to go with it.
I don't know if you like to write, but...it's a suggestion.

You could also build doll houses. It is very interesting, especially if you are into architecture and interior design. Make mini-models of real houses, and furnish them the way you would if you lived there.

You could buy a puppy.
Play tennis.
Learn a foreign language.
Memorize the index of the Bible, OT to NT, in order.
Collect butterflies and/or feathers.
Learn an instrument.
