Which Communities Celebrate The Ef (at All) ?

I am wondering which communities celebrate the EF sometimes, all the time, or once in a while.

I know a few:
-Marian Sisters of Santa Rosa celebrate EF 2-4 times a week
-Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate celebrate EF about 10 times per month.
-Dallas Carmelites celebrate EF on First Fridays (????)
-Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary ONLY have the EF.
-Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church have it on rare occasions

So who else knows of communities which celebrate the EF of the mass on any kind of basis? Preferably US communities, because I'm not planning on traveling outside the country to enter.

Thank you and God bless! :smile3:

Here's a quick run down on Carmels.. without citing all sources/links

obviously the three Carmels of JMJ (Valp, Elysburg, Canyon) have it daily/all the time

Alexandria, SD - the last I heard was that they want to have it more often

Brooklyn, NY - also wants to have it more often, but I am pretty sure it is much less than Alexandria

Yes, it is normally only on First Fridays for the all night vigil at 8 pm and then 3 am, http://www.materdeiparish.com/schedule However, there are times when they will have a special one offered like for the clothing days, professions. They are very close with the Mater Dei community (FSSP) who used to have their Sunday Mass in their monastery chapel for like 20 years.

Des Plaines, IL has had one on First Saturdays since 1987

Littleton, CO - the FSSP priests from here, http://www.olmcfssp.org/cms/ have offered it in their chapel, but I am not sure how often

Morristown, NJ now has it weekly, every Saturday

San Francisco (Cristo Rey) has it, but I am not sure how often

This is all that comes to mind for now, but later I'll probably remember something else :topsy: Also all of these are 1990 except Cristo Rey & Philly

p.s. Philadelphia & Flemington have had it too, but I'm not sure how often. At one point Flemington was considering switching over to it completely, but decided not to.. again, not sure how often they have it now.

Also the Sisters Adorers of the Royal Heart of Jesus are only celebrating the EF.

"Their day is centered around prayer - Holy Mass and the Divine Office in the traditional Latin form, one hour of mental prayer and one hour of Eucharistic adoration in the evening, the Rosary, etc. Punctuating this rich life of prayer are periods of manual labor and intellectual training, including instruction in Gregorian Chant, Latin, Spirituality, Philosophy, and Theology, as well as the learning of crafts such as sewing, lace-making, and the care of liturgical vestments and altar linens." -http://www.institute-christ-king.org/vocations/sisters/

These are beautiful Sisters! I believe they're only in Italy as of right now, though I have spoken to their male branch "Christ the King Institute" (their short title) and they said the Sisters are trying to make a foundation over here.

If you just mean to refer to the EF in a general way rather than the Tridentine specifically, the Dominicans of the Western Province (Most Holy Name of Jesus) celebrate their own Dominican Rite which is very similar in decora to the Extraordinary Form as usually considered.

I heard from a priest that the Franciscan Daughters of Mary have it every week now :like: (as much as they can depending when the priests who can offer it are available)

On a different note, are the Poor Clare Colletines the only nuns who go totally barefoot?

Do any Poor Clares celebrate the EF?

I have heard of them, but I don't know much about them. Do you have any idea of how many are in their community, and if they are receiving new vocations?

I'm not sure .. but I can ask this priest. I checked here, http://www.religiousministries.com/ (which updates their numbers every year) and they are listed but not their numbers. Will get back to you when I find out.

Not Discalced Carmelites :topsy: they wear sandals .. have from their beginnings, alpargatas. The Friars at first went barefoot, but St. Teresa advised them to wear simple sandals.

About Poor Clares, PCCs are the only ones I've ever heard of that go completely barefoot most of the time.

Yes! :) But do the second order nuns celebrate the Dominican Rite with regularity as the first order brothers do?

I love the barefooted-ness of the PCCs. If I felt called to a life in the cloister (which is so attractive, but I think my heart was made for active service), I'd likely be discerning with PCCs.
