I'm quite sure this is not on your list of things to do and might even seem repulsive at first, but would you consider vlogging the last part of your discernment journey? I'm sure you're familiar with "New Catholic Generation" vloggers. Many of them are just beginning the discernment process. If you don't have the interest in video taping yourself and figuring out youtube (or maybe you are already there and I'm not making the connection) I know of a few NCG vloggers who would likely be interested in interviewing you...maybe on skype or some other way. It would help get the word out about PCC and help NCG goal of following the Pope's call to use technology to evangelize.
Actually, that sounds great. The idea of vlogging doesn't not appeal to me, I just always thought no one would want to take the time to listen to me! :hehe:

I have not heard of the NCG, but it sounds like they have a wonderful ministry. I would be more than happy to help them help others discern their vocations. I have a youtube channel 'emmaberry100' (I think that's it) where I already have some PC videos up, but I will look into vlogging on that channel. I'm just not all that creative with these things, so I may contact NCG and ask if they have tips for what the videos should focus on and what would be most helpful for people. Thank you for the tips! :like:

Awww! That picture with the dog is so sweet. Its the same kind of dog that we have. We have two: Tinkerbell is a mini so she's really tiny and a little princess (spoiled little thing.) Then there's Captain Jack; he's sweet too. :) ... The dog that they have at the monastery that I was in was really spoiled. Everyone just loved her. I could imagine that its the same way with all communites that have pets.

Great blog too! The way its set up is beautiful.
Awww! I am always glad to see other people who love their pets as much as I do! In our house, the animals really are like a part of the family. It makes me sad to go over to other's homes and sometimes see the animals mostly ignored...but compared to most animals in the world, I guess they are perfectly happy with the provided food and shelter they have, even if the affection is somewhat lacking.

I am sure the animals are much loved in religious houses! I love your pet's names as well.

The visit with the MCs is not going according to plan. They are WONDERFUL Sisters (so pro-life and they LOVE their Mother Teresa-it is beautiful to behold), but Mother wanted me to live with nuns so I could experience a prolonged religious schedule (sleep/work/prayer etc), and I am not able to pray the majority of the Office and meditation with them, as their convent is down the street from the women's/volunteer home I am staying in, and their bulk of prayer occurs when it is dark out. They don't want me walking outside in the neighborhood in the dark-and I agree with this. In true MC spirit, they live in a very poor neighborhood, so this is definitely the safe option. Also, they don't want me living their schedule (they are SO thoughtful and say I will be tired) so I am on a normal volunteer schedule.

I'm going to phone Mother tomorrow and let her know about this, because I don't think this is what she had in mind when she suggested living with Sisters. Also, I'd be more than happy to volunteer here, as it is wonderful! However, with my time at home dwindling, I'd really rather spend this time with my family if it is not exactly what Mother Abbess wanted.

If anyone is in the South and is looking for a place to volunteer, definitely check out the MC Sisters here! The spirit and love of Mother Teresa is vibrant and real. :like:

Now, does anyone have any suggestions for communities that would be open to a long visit from someone who is not discerning their community? I called the Trinitarians of Mary before I thought of the MCs, and I think they do this, but none of their houses are driving distance from me. I can do airfare, but would prefer to drive. May God reward you, and may he reward His dedicated Missionaries of Charity.

WAIT!!! You're joining THOSE PCCs?? I so didn't put two and two together. Sister Angelique is my best friend/spiritual mother/mentor. She looks so happy in all the pictures I've seen of her. I miss chatting with her on skype until all hours of the night.
Anyway that was rather off topic for this thread. What I really wanted to say was that the Picasa link still won't work for me :(

First, I have said it before, but I really admire that your Mother Abbess wants you to do this .. to experience religious/community life a bit before entering. It seems so wise. I have heard of a Poor Clare community in Canada (not sure which one) that sends their aspirants to Madonna House for a while before entering (although that's VERY far for you) and I know a Discalced Carmelite Nun in Solemn Vows now who spent a whole year there herself before she entered .. it was a good preparation apparently :nunpray:

So some places that come to mind in your area .. the Contemplative Sisters of St. John are in Laredo, TX and I know someone who went down there just for a retreat. I am not sure how safe it would be to drive to Laredo though .. I am sure you know better than me.

Then this is a bit far but the Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Los Angelos do have that retreat house http://www.sacredhea...treathouse.com/ maybe you could ask about staying there to work and pray with the Sisters for a while.

Then the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration have a monastery in Tucson, AZ http://www.tucsonmonastery.com/ (<-- looks so beautiful and Spanish!) and they have a live-in volunteer program. Here are some pictures of one of their Sisters who plays the organ .. she looks so sweet!

I hope you're able to find something!

I don't really know of any orders that do this, per se, but I found these that do a "Come and See" experience:

I just remembered .. a bunch a FOCUS missionaries and students this year went to Gallup, NM to volunteer with the MCs there. A little more info, http://missions.focu..._america/gallup I'm not sure if this would be any better than the situation in Dallas though.

Emmaberry; I don't have any communities in mind to share that would be helpful but I'll say a prayer about this for you. Its wonderful that you were able to have this experience with the Missionaries of Charity.

When you talk to Mother she may very well have another option for you, then you'll know thats what you're to do. :)

Definitely check out the Little Sisters of the Poor. They often have long term volunteers that live at the Homes and I believe they go to the community prayer times etc. My friend did it for a while and loved it.

If you can't find anything in the south, The Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate in New Bedford have many girls visit. They are flexible and their schedule is similar to PCC. They are contemplative, semi-cloistered. We know these sisters well and love them. http://www.marymedia...sa-sisters.html

While not as conservative as the FI sisters, the Capuchin Sisters in Williamsport PA would probably also welcome your visit. I have heard it said that they are like PCC but not cloistered and I do know of girls visiting at off times. While they look conservative, they are more liberal but sitll maintain a schedule similar to PCC. Praying you find something suitable.
