Yesterday's Election's True Winner--nullification

What do potheads and opponents of Obama-care have in common? They both voted for nullification yesterday!

Six states passed laws aiming to nullify federal over-reaches of power. If precedent is any indication, if challenged in the court systems the courts are likely to argue that the Supremacy Clause over-rules these nullifications, sadly, but this is a good time to basically debate the issue as to whether states should be allowed the right to nullify federal laws when they are outside the scope of the Constitution. Thomas Jefferson sure thought they should.

Many people say that the thing about nullification is that to truly do it, you must also effectively nullify a Supreme Court ruling. Last time this came up the issue was surrounding things like segregation and integration, I believe the National Guard had to be involved to some extent, but that was also because of the possibility of violence occurring with all the high racial tensions at the time; I wonder to what extent Alabama would actually try to maintain the nullification against the ruling of the Supreme Court, and if they did so what would actually be done.

I'm not sure I know exactly where the battleground would take place, actually. If the government imposes a penalty on you for not buying health insurance through your income taxes, how's the State of Alabama going to step in to protect you? I don't really know what the trajectory of implementing this law will be, how it will find its way into the courts, and what type of response to an unfavorable court decision the state of Alabama could really have.

The Adams campaign informs me, if we elect Jefferson, there will be civil war, a national orgy, rape, incest, and that women of the night shall be appointed to Cabinet positions. :|

See this is what I don't know. It wasn't an overwhelming majority and was just at the 60% needed. I know one of the senators so I'll ask him.

They did also elect Roy Moore again, so maybe he'll just defy and defy the supermen court and that'll be that. Hah

Haha. Supreme. Not supermen

Actually, Obama was the winner. You just can't touch him.

Aloysius, Back in Thomas Jefferson's day we followed the constitution. Sadly, its hardly even a guide anymore.

No we didn't. The central bank stuff started up before the ink was dry on that rag.
