Any Sewers, Dressmakers Or Crafty Minxes Of Any Persuasion?

Hey, Spem and all,

You all beat me to my suggestions (tissue, fusible interfacing).... but my final suggestion would have been to take it to the dressmaker.  Because.... if it is that special, you want someone who does specialty work.   Slinky stuff is a bear to sew under any circumstances, but something like that... I wouldn't want to risk it.

I haven't done much last few years (just out of time, more than anything) but I enjoy sewing, embroidery and crewel work, and other kinds of arts and crafts.  When I do it I remember how much I enjoy it.  But I forget how much I enjoy it when time goes by.....

One thing I have found SUPER WONDERFUL about the internet is that there are so many 'how to' videos available... and other resources.   If I get stuck on a project, if I search 'video' and the key words, I can almost always find a link to something that will help me.....

And then, there is the Husqvarna-Viking 'sewing tutorials' -- these are AMAZING!!!!!   They are step-by-step (literally pin by pin!) tutorials on how to do various sewing things.   Check them out -- they saved my rump more times than I want to think of when doing something I hadn't ever done (or hadn't done in 40 years....)

Thanks, AnneLine! I'm very excited to get it back. I love sewing and embroidery very much - I've made a few bags and cushions, and a couple of quilts. My mum is a keen quilter and very good with a needle and thread, so I've learnt a lot from her.

Wow! I'll check out that website too - I'm sure it will come in handy :)

Carter, I especially love these. The rooster is beautiful. And the colours you used in your work are great!

I'm working on some calligraphy and drawing at the moment, so will post when I'm done :)

I'm also hoping to start this for myself http://www.spudandchloe.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Rosie.pdf as well as an nice big rectangle wrap once I finish frogging my black wool and alpeca blend sweater that I got for a buck fifty at a thrift store :woot:

Both are gorgeous. Happy knitting and crocheting! :) Old jumpers definitely do come in handy!

My newest crafty venture is soap making. I had a kit for it as a kid which I loved so I'm going to do some experimenting so we can teach my mothers Brownie group (theyre like Girl Scouts).

My big thing though is embroidery. I just finished a project using silk threads. They're expensive but worth it.

Soap making sounds awesome. And embroidery! I love it so much. What kind of things do you embroider?

I've done cross stitch for years, but for my birthday the year before last I asked for embroidery classes at the royal school of needlework. My latest piece was a bird of paradise, but I'm planning a cross design at the moment. And I'm taking a class in goldwork in a few months!

I did a chain stitch and I used this <http://www.needlenthread.com/2008/05/free-embroidery-pattern-cross-crown.html>  design.

I am going to try to do this <http://www.needlenthread.com/2010/10/ecclesiastical-embroidery-pattern-pall-design.html> for a friend of mine who is getting ordained.

I'm going to try that second pattern too once I've done my goldwork class.
