I borrowed a book from amazon prime: http://www.amazon.com/Practical-Consecration-Consecrated-Virginity-Provisions/dp/1482397552/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1376799289&sr=8-2&keywords=%60therese+ivers written by an actual Consecrated Virgin. And it got me REALLY curious:

I never realized before reading this how much ceremony goes into this wedding!

Has anyone got photos of CVs on their wedding days showing them radiant in their gowns?

Just for fun to think about it, how would you design your consecration day if you were pursuing this vocation? What flowers would you pick? Would you have a lamp or a candle? How long would your veil be? How about the wedding cake?

I think it would be fun to explore this showing any pictures that you can share of this vocation as many have done for the religious vocations here on Phatmass.

Just to do something diffferent! :)

Believe it our not, I have thought about this quite a bit.  I've seen some very beautiful images of Consecrated Virgins in their wedding garments and I like the traditional style of wedding dresses.  This one is my favorite that I've seen:

If I chose a dress, I'd choose something simple but elegant.  Definitely something modest, too, of course!  I like these dresses:

I am not sure if you are allowed to choose the Gospel readings or the other readings but, if I was, I'd like:

First reading: Isaiah 62

Responsorial:  Psalm 34

Second reading: Revelation 19:1, 5-9

Gospel:  Luke 1:26-56 (The Annunciation and the Visitation)

I think I would choose to carry a lamp because of the passage from Matthew 25:1-13.  Something like this would be suitable:

I hope that if I am consecrated to a life of virginity, that I will be able to prostrate in front of the altar and have the Litany of Saints which is what is done at Vow Ceremonies for Religious and the ordination of priests.

Ima, I'm glad you started this thread.  There are some really beautiful photos out there, and I'd like to post a couple.

Here is a photo of the newly consecrated virgin receiving her ring on her left hand:virgin_web.jpg

Here is a photo of a newly consecrated virgin receiving the veil:

(Note that the CV is veiled during the ceremony and not before, which is why you see many photos of women in white wearing no veil and then wearing a veil.)  In this particular photo, the CV on the left is her bridal attendant (the Rite calls for two bridesmaids) and they chose to have her wear a white dress and veil.

Here's a photo of a CV with a ring on her right hand:

Let's get this thread back on track.  People who think the vocation to consecrated virginity is overly romantic, please post elsewhere.  Those of us who believe that there is no harm in looking at photos and who rejoice in the beauty of the rich symbolism the Church has given us can continue on on this thread.
