How Old Is Too Old To Trick Or Treat

Celebrating Hallowe'en is one thing; but I think actual Trick or Treating is for the younger kids.  The older ones can do haunted houses or the like.

Dressing up in costume for Halloween - no age limit.

Accompanying children who trick or treat - no age limit.

Asking for candy from strangers - eighth grade is the last year.

Has anyone ever turned down a teenager? I gave out candy this year to plenty of young adults. I would have gone myself if the candy didn't taste so disgusting.

I think I went until 8th grade. Maybe freshman year of high school i don't remember.

But I really don't care if teenagers still want to do it. Let em have fun, don't worry abaht it.

I went tricking or treating until I was in high school.

But, I looked very young for my age.

And, it was a different time.

Still, I had as much or more fun than I did as a kid.

And, haunted houses scared me, so that was no substitute.

Never done it. But I would guess older if with young children.  But I think above 11 or 12 is pushing it if they are by themselves.

My vote is you're never too old. If you enjoy it and aren't doing it to be a jerk grabbing too much candy then it's cool. We hang out with neighbors to hand out candy and we've discussed that point. We all enjoy others enjoying Halloween. We get teens. They tend to have better costumes. It beats them raising hell like I did.

No age limit. I took my little cousins out last night but dropped them off at my house since I wanted to go to the good houses (awe.some candy!!!) that were a longer walk from my house and the weather was taking a turn for the worst. It started snowing and I didn't want them out in that but I didn't want to quit so I went on.

you are only too old to trick or treat if you go by yourself, then that is just creepy.

trick or treating in a group of other adults is hilarious and fun, long as people are not dressing up as " sexy pirates  "   and are not drunk and making a problem.   and dont get in the way of children.

My sister went with us all the way until she went to college, and yes, she got candy herself as well. I think she got away with it because she's on the short side and she looked younger than she actually was.

Regardless, I think Trick or Treating through high school is fine so long as you have younger kids with you. I wouldn't turn down a lone teenager doing it, but I would personally feel awkward doing it myself.

In my area, high school kids trick-or-treat in the evenings, and the afternoon hours are when you see all the kiddos with their parents.
