I went to law school with him!  It says he worked as an advocate for abused and neglected children -- we both interned at that office in Chicago during law school, I bet he got a job there after graduation.

 

Not that we were ever close at all, but I would not have guessed that one of my classmates would end up as a Trappist monk!

It just goes to show, ya' never know (who God is calling to what)!

 

BTW, I noticed your icon of Dorothy Day. Do you know that she was a lay Benedictine connected to St. Procopius Abbey in Lisle, IL? If you're still in the Chicago area, you might want to contact them. BUT - their website doesn't seem to be responding today. (Maybe you'll have better luck than I did - or a better computer!)
