All is in the title. I am not opening this to have a debate on "is X party better than Y", or "you should not support X, Y, Z", just by curiosity.

What political party do you support ? If you don't support a political party, do you support a political philosophy ?

I begin.
Political party : I try to vote for the Modem, a little french party that will never been elected anywhere. Our "chief" is François Bayrou, a catholic. According to wikipedia, its ideology are "centrism, liberalism, social liberalism, christian democracy, and pro-europeanism". I recognise myself in centrism and pro-europeanism, I don't know enough to judge christian democracy. When interviewed for a New York Times profile,[12] Bayrou described himself, saying: "I am a democrat, I am a Clintonian, I am a man of the 'third way'." He positioned himself as a centrist, although he has historic ties to the right. His platform promotes job creation, improvement of educational standards, improved conditions in the troubled suburbs, reduced government spending, a balanced budget and a stronger European Union, with France as its de facto leader. We are centrist, but very close to the right. I am pro-European Union, but I'm opposed to the presence of the UK in the UE. But the british seems to think like me xD I support our social system, with freel school, free university, free healthcare. I am against two-party system. I am also an "ecologist" (I only eat organic, we try to never use our car, etc...). I don't vote in all election - only for the president, for the european, and for my mayor. I am of spanish descent (my father is spanish), and I live close to Spain. I don't really care about spanish politic, but I support the end of this monarchy, and the independance of Catalogne if the catalan want to be.

Political philosophy : Christianism ! Seriously, gaullism. I am big fan of Général de Gaulle, the man and his ideology. I'm also a kind of bonapartist, I think. As a gaullist, I believe in the greatness of the France, its independance (specially from the ONU, FMI, NATO, but also USA, China...), a strong and stable executive wich gives the president a major role, the rejection of economic liberalism, of capitalism, of socialism, for a state-oriented economy (large public projects, keynesianism), and advanced social protection (free university, free healthcare, etc...). I am against abortion, etc... According to wikipedia : "Gaullists emphasize the need for France to "guarantee its national independence without resorting to allies whose interests might not coincide with those of France."". On Europe : "De Gaulle and the Gaullists did not support Europe as a supranational entity, but did favor European integration in the form of "a confederation of sovereign states mutually engaged in "common policy, autonomous from the superpowers," and significantly influenced by France".

And you ? I'm curious. I only know cliché about politics in the US and UK. I'm sorry if I am not clear in my explanation of the Modem and gaullism, it's hard to tell when it's not in your language.

I do not belong to/support any political party (I'm in the US). I usually vote 3rd party, even though the candidate usually has no hope of winning.

Nihil Obstat

My political philosophy is Immortale Dei. :hehe:

I really do not know. I have a soft spot for monarchy and possibly some form of feudalism. That is about all I can say.

Yes. I am distancing myself from Austrian economics primarily because I do not feel competent to claim such a strong understanding of economic issues. I am distancing myself from radical libertarianism because I no longer believe it is fully compatible with traditional Catholicism.

I do still hold some or many libertarian ideals, but I do not affiliate myself with the radical anarchist side of the spectrum any longer.

Not The Philosopher

I'm a boring ol' Tory, although I'm not a fan of the Tories in my country.

Cool, that's largely where I'm at, although I think I'm a little farther down the distributist rabbit hole.

I don't really ascribe to ideologies as I find them all too convenient substitutes for thought. However, if asked to categorize myself, I'd consider myself a traditionalist conservative Tory with some libertarian leanings.

Ideology: a system of ideas and ideals;

No need to have a framework of principles.  So dang unhip.

I'd rather save my dogma for religion, Anomaly, and not politics. This is not to say that my cohesive Weltanschauung formed by the Catholic faith does not impact that, and very profoundly, but rather that my ideals are based on God, not what what The Party says.
