where to buy a nuns habit

Dear Katie,

There is much wisdom here from others for you.

I would suggest that what is most important for each one of us, young or old, as we seek to discern our vocation is that we first and foremost seek to grow in our discipleship and love for the Lord. Actually wearing a 'habit' will not help you in this. Maybe you should think about things that help you grow in your inner life, in reading scripture and in growing in your prayer life by finding a pattern of reading and of praying and learning more about the Carmelite charism and tradition that suit you where you are right now. Think about ways of praying, maybe learning the liturgy of the hours, praying the rosary and spending time with Jesus, in adoration and just getting to know and love him more.

The outward things will come later and as a result of this, being more simple in the way your live, or the way you dress. Most of all, please keep you eyes on Jesus, as this is where your heart and your future vocation, whatever it may be. May God continue to bless and you to draw you into his love,

Lily

What a bunch of judgemental and useless discussions about this girl wanting to wear a habit! Maybe you forget that St Claire, St Rose of Lima and many other venerable women of God wore habits (often made by themselves) yet without belonging to any official order. Go girl, get your habit and ware it in the name of our Lord to give your soul the peace it needs! Hypocritical people! You just judge and condemn, like always been under the piety of your empty lives! God knows what it does and vocation has different approaching. None of you is better than anyone!

This thread is two years old. I find it difficult to believe that anyone other than a troll would join Phatmass solely to tell people (in extremely judgmental language) that their lives are 'empty' because they gently advised a young woman that a habit is received, not bought. For this reason I'm closing the thread. If you are a genuine poster and not a troll then of course you're more than welcome to join in with recent discussions, but try to do it without making personal attacks.
