Ground Rules:

1. You're predicting an actual lawsuit, not just a demonstration or a press conference.

2. Pick the timeframe, too.

3. If you can accurately predict the state in which the lawsuit is filed, we can negotiate some bonus points (probably).

I'll go first.

The next lawsuit, which the people will vote against consistently in plebiscites but the courts will overturn consistently, will be:

1. Underage marriage - straights and gays will collaborate and file suit to eliminate state imposed age limits and parental consent ages

2. Within the next two years

3. The federal case will be filed from Utah.

I second you :

I think there might already be a polygamy case that is working its way through the Federal  Courts. As you suggest, one of the main problems with the new "Four Principles" that now supposedly define marriage is that they apply equally well to incest or polygamy as they do to gay marriage.

It would be hypocritical of the Court not to allow those things as well, but I do not think we can judge how they might decide on those issues without knowing their personal opinions on whether they are moral. That is the problem when judges start imposing their own ideas of how the world should be instead of following the existing laws and precedents - the public has no idea what to expect.

It will be this case since the SC shot polygamous marriage down because it recognized marriage being between one man and one woman and that this was the basis for the family.

Now that the SC has abused it's authority by redefining marriage those who support polygamy will be looking for their piece of this redefinition action.  In fact the polygamy case will probably happen a lot sooner than 2 years.

This is what our society gets when socialists move into power,  none of this should be a surprise to anyone, all this is, is glorious oh so glorious hope and change, and shame on any of you who claim other wise ! just get over your sour grapes that the grand old party is useless, that conservatives are outnumbered, and that is that.  I guess we could just as Christians, move to another country that doesn't allow same sex marriages, China comes to mind.

We can only hope for more wonderful changes to come with Hilary and Bill back n power coming down the pipe.

Mine as well get it over with and merge the two parties and have the obama flag be the official flag for the new party.

But at least the Church doesn't have to concede to stupidity, simply bishops all they have to do is tell their priests to no longer issue state marriage licenses and only perform the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony .  An everyone else can just scream bloody murder into a bucket and send it to the Vatican when they realize they can't force everyone to turn to a glorious progressive way of thinking.

That is a horrible idea.

Polygamist and quickly but not necessarily out of Utah. It will come out of a Muslim family. Already had to deal with that here because of refugees. Trying to force a refugee to leave half his family in a war zone isn't going over well here.

In Belgium children can commit euthanasia i.e. suicide. In the public discussion on this, opponents rightly pointed to the coming inequality in rights - a 10-year old could now decide whether to end his life, but not to have sex with a 60-year old man. The good egalitarians they are, Belgian liberals now campaign for legalizing the age of consent. Why not take it a step further and legalize child marriages?

For quite a long time the Dutch government has tolerated (national favorite sport, by the way) polygamy, e.g. giving legal recognition to second wives. The public's moral outcry upon discovering this was not directed at polygamy itself, but at immigrants using it to import people.

In the Netherlands child euthanasia was surreptitious until the Groningen Protocol brought it into the open and made it even more acceptable.

There's been an ongoing case in BC with a break-off from the FLDS that has continually been trying to get used as a test case.  And in regards to precedence, there were polygamist families that were in Canada during settlement of the west when the government just turned a blind eye.
