It' probably not inspiring, but I wanted to share (for fun) a little poem I wrote years ago  (as a postulant).  I was in charge of cleaning the elevator - used by lots of different people.  There were always smudges/finger marks on it.  When I was cleaning one morning, the wheels of my head started turing.  May I share A Message from the Elevator?

If your fingers like the feel
of my lovely stainless steel
to you I make this great appeal:

Whether at noon or break of day,
while you ride your merry way,
bring with you a rag and spray.

Then when you finish your little touch,
if it's not asking too much,
you can wipe your smears away
so on me they do not stay.

Here's another poem I wrote years back.  This one was entitled: Ave Maria.  Maybe I should post it on Our Franciscan Fiat sometime.

Ave Maria!

Hail our Mother and our Queen

Who, at present though not seen,

Watches and protects us here-

in times of peace and times of fear.

 

Please help us to be more like you

Who, in everything, was true.

Please help us trust and truly pray:

Let it be done me as you say.

 

Guide us, please, and help us obey

The words at Cana you did say.

Like those servants, please help us do

What ever He tells [us] to.

 

Show us, please, the way to go

And what we should do to know.

Please help our minds be lit, not dim

As we heed: Listen to Him.

 

Please help us have obedient hearts

And never let our feet depart

From the way which you did run

That will lead us to your Son.

 

Hail, my Mother and my Queen!

Though your loving hands unseen,

I know you have maternal care

For us your children everywhere.

I really like your poem! It shows the intense focus you have on the inseparable nature between the espousal bond with Christ and intimacy with His sufferings. Keep writing!

To Be All His

"Leave all. Let there be no longer anything else in the world for you but the love between you and Me” (Jesus to Sr Mary of the Trinity. “Words of Love”, TAN).

1. To be all His,

Is to step into the unknown,

And forgetting all,

To give yourself completely.

It is to surrender blindly,

Knowing nothing,

Perceiving nothing.

And as it trusts,

The soul finds Everything..

And the unknown becomes,

A known and loved reality.

2. To be in Love,

Is to gaze trustingly

At the Sacred Host,

As His Eyes behold you

With changeless love.

It is to look into His Eyes

And be captured by His beauty,

And to adore in silence.

Now so irresistibly captured,

His Heart – the only Treasure,

His gaze, His words – the only delight.

To be in Love,

Is to be consumed by these holy flames,

To be lost in this ocean of love

Forget then, soul, the earth’s lovers.

This Heart is the one you have desired,

His Face, His Voice alone…

Look into the Eyes of your Beloved,

And repose on His holy breast.

Let there be nothing,

But the love between Him and you.

Poem of Love to Jesus Crucified

I see the radiance of Your Face

Through Your most bitter tears

I see the Precious Blood flow down,

I hear the blows, the sneers…

 

My Jesus! As Veronica I would wish

To wipe Your tears divine,

To caress Your wounded, anguished Face

And press Your Heart to mine

 

With love, I’d kiss Your painful wounds

That You the pain forget –

And I’d adore Your dearest Eyes

With ceaseless tears wet

 

I’d tell You many loving words

To drown out the vicious yells

Of those who pierced Your Head with thorns

And locked You in a cell…

 

And as a prisoner, You wept

Rejected by those for whom

You shed Your Precious Holy Blood,

Adored by so few..

 

And now, My King, though risen above

You dwell a prisoner still,

A lonely Prisoner of Love,

Upon our altars, till –

 

A loving soul comes to embrace

Her Saviour Crucified

Adoring, she comes to comfort Him

To kiss His wounded side

 

And with a yearning look of love,

He awaits her through the night:

A weak and little human heart –

His Heaven of delight.

 

My Jesus, as You descend to us,

With the appearance of bread,

In a cold ciborium in the dark

And no place to lay Your Head,

 

Come to my little heart, my King,

And let it ever be,

The comfort that I always find,

In Your own Heart for me.

Heaven

Would You come to me dearest Jesus,

Would You open Your arms divine?

Would You draw me close beside You

Your dear love forever mine

You alone - my joy, my comfort,

Your sweet Heart my only home,

There to whisper all the secrets

That are meant for You alone

Loving You - my one ambition,

Your kind Face - my only peace,

And though I know You are with me..

Making all life's troubles cease -

Still my longing only grows,

With Your every loving glance,

As Your tender Heart bestows

Mercy, rest, redeeming grace..

Oh if only I could see You!

(Though I know this wish is bold)

To behold Your glorious presence,

To inflame this heart so cold...

Though unworthy, little, sinful, -

For Your smile, Your kiss, Your welcome,
