R.E.M. belting out the always apt "It's the End of the World as We Know It."

(I b'lieve Trump is mentioned in the  lyrics! They knew all about our current situation back in 1991!)

And then there's Mr. Dylan. His nonsense lyrics often wind up being very insightful. Even if they're not, you always get a couple of good images and several quotable quotes, in this case from the chorus of "Things Have Changed." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9EKqQWPjyo

Nice. Do you like any Neil Young?

I've never listened to him, except when he records with people I do listen to. Obviously he can write and he can sing - I was just never much interested in him after "Southern Man" and that typical liberal look-down-your-nose-at-people-who-aren't-like-you attitude.

Another storied singer from Ireland is Christy Moore. He's sort of their version of Pete Singer - a folk singer with very definite and left-leaning political opinions. But he also sings a lot of fun stuff, including "The Reel in the Flickering Light," an encounter by moonlight among the "creatures" ending in a dance.

June Carter Cash sings a song that the Carter Family (her mother, aunt, and uncle) originally recorded in 1928 and again in 1935. This version was recorded when June was in her 70's, a couple of years before she died, and you can hear that she doesn't always have as much breath as she needs. Her husband Johnny Cash, her daughters Rosie & Carlene, and her sister Anita sing on the chorus.

I offer it here for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting and Tom Petty.
