That's beautiful! I'm also discerning a vocation to the Franciscan way of life!

A few Franciscan orders I know of are:

Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George

Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration

Franciscan Sisters, T.O.R. of Penance of the Sorrowful Mother

http://www.franciscansisterstor.org/

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity

I accidentally sent it earlier before finishing...

I am just wondering where you are from - that would be helpful to know.

I am from a Franciscan Congregation (Franciscan Sisters of Dillingen).  We are in North Dakota, USA, as well as in Germany, Spain, Brazil and India.

Besides a Franciscan spirituality, are there any other specifics you'd be looking for?  (apostolate, etc.)

I'm from Oklahoma, so I'll probably have to travel to visit any communities I feel called to investigate further. I've visited with the Franciscans of the Martyr St George, and while I owe so much to one of their sisters for becoming a second mother to me, I feel I am not called to them. Up until now I've been thinking of some kind of teaching or retreat work apostolate. However I have such a fondness for the Poor Clare Colettines that I have begun to wonder...

Thank you all of you who have already replied! I'm new to Phatmass, and from a primarily non-Catholic area of the country. This environment of like-minded people is amazing!

I'm discerning with the FSGMs! It is so great to hear that you've visited them, too :) May I ask which Sister it was? (You don't need to answer if you don't want to share, I completely understand)

I do not know if anyone else  has mentioned to you the Casa Maria convent and retreat House in AL. They seem like  a gr8 match to what you described - 'We, the Sister Servants of the Eternal Word, are a new order that follows the Rule of St. Francis of Assisi with St. Dominic and St. Francis as our patrons. I envisioned a religious community whose structure would make possible a religious family rooted in a deep prayer life enabling its members to work from an enlightened and contemplative perspective. Our work of retreats and catechesis would necessarily focus in the Catholic Faith, thus nourishing the Sisters' spiritual lives as well as those of the people we serve."

They're a beautiful community and as you said they follow the Rule of St. Francis but having visited them, I think it's worth mentioning that they have a heavy Dominican influence.  It's not a bad thing; in fact, it's kind of unique but if someone is looking for a community that's particularly Franciscan, this one may not be a good fit.  It doesn't hurt to visit their website and talk to the vocations directress though.

I'd like to add a couple of communities to the list.

Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth

Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate

http://franciscansoftheimmaculate.com/

Let's just take a moment to appreciate how amesome Franciscans are :)

I'm so glad to hear you're discerning with them! They are amazing women. The sister who was an absolute blessing for me when I first started discerning was Sr. M. Consolata. She used to be the vocation directress there but now she helps to run a discernment house. She has a true gift for helping young women with their vocation!

Yes! Sr. M. Consolata is such a beautiful person, inside and out! Mater Redemptoris House of Formation is actually where I first met the Sisters :)
