    April 27, 2017
This morning at chapter, postulant Ashwini received the Cistercian habit and a new name: Sr Maria Girza!

In her petition, given during the ceremony, Ashwini spoke of her experience of receiving unconditional love from God and from her parents.  Her desire is to enter the school of love to learn how to give unconditional love in her turn.

From Mount Savior Benedictine monastery in New York:

" On the 24th, Ronald Lau was clothed as a novice and took the name Mark..."

http://www.msaviour.org/mnthly_news.php

This is a farm monastery - no school, college, or anything like that. They do provide retreats, but mostly they raise sheep, grow apples, keep a garden, and so forth. Founded in the 1950's, their goal was to live as in the days of St. Benedict.

From the Carmelite monastery of St. Joseph, in St. Louis, Missouri:

"Sr. Mary Lucia of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary will make her solemn profession of vows on Saturday, May 13, the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima."

So this is a before-the-fact statement. I don't find any after-the-fact photos on the site yet. When one of the sisters made solemn vows last year, there were lots of pictures, so I expect that there will eventually be pictures of this ceremony, too.

One of our Pham entered this monastery on the feast of St. Mark (April 25) last year, as a postulant. I've been checking for news as to whether she entered the novitiate - postulancy is normally one year, right? - but I haven't found any updates. Do any of you keep in touch with her or her family?

Four friars/deacons ordained to the priesthood today :
- Raphael Christianson, Vincent Davila, Samuel Hakeem, and James Peter Trares.

There are a couple of pictures on the Facebook page, but they're very distant shots. If they post better ones later, I might post them here.
