Some do not like separations, but you have to understand what is happening with some Piarists in Spain. To put a single example, this photo corresponds to the Solemn Profession of a Piarist in Cataluña, who professes is the one in the blue t'shirt.

Conception Seminary (10-27-17)

"Rev. Mr. Justin Hamilton, an alumnus of CSC, will be ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas on Nov. 4. Please pray for him and all men discerning their vocation."

{It's later in the year than I usually see ordinations, but I"ll take 'em whenever they occur!]

From Marmion Abbey (Benedictine monks) in Aurora, IL - one postulant is accepted as a novice, and one novice makes first profession of vows.

Here's an article from the Chicago Tribune about the newly professed monk (age 20) and the new novice (age 65). Interesting. http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/aurora-beacon-news/opinion/ct-abn-crosby-marmion-monks-st-1101-20171031-column.html

This news is two months old, but I just discovered it:

Olivetan Benedictine Sisters of Holy Angels Convent (ARK).

September 5 ·

New Candidate Welcomed...

On Sunday, September 3, 2017, the Sisters welcomed candidate Julie Watts of Columbia, Missouri, to Holy Angels Convent. In a ceremony before Evening Prayer, Julie knocked on the door of the Chapel and was greeted by the Prioress and Formation Directress. After receiving permission to try her vocation in the community, Julie was escorted to her new place with the Sisters in Chapel. Please keep Julie in your prayers!

From the Congregation of Alexian Brothers:

[... on July 17] Brother Jeffrey and Brother Torch professed their First Vows. Brother Dan McCormick, C.F.A., Provincial of the Immaculate Conception Province, spoke before the end of the Mass, describing Brother Jeffrey and Brother Torch as men who want to follow Jesus Christ by living and praying in community and by caring for the most vulnerable and unwanted in society.

Brother Jeffrey and Brother Torch joined the Alexian Brothers as postulants in January 2015 and entered the novitiate in St. Louis in July 2015.

From Saint Louis Abbey (Benedictine monks of the English congregation):

"Saint Louis Abbey shared Saint Louis Priory School's post.

Please pray for Brother Basil Sienkiewicz, O.S.B., who professed his Simple Vows today [12-02-17].

Deo Gratias!"

Founded in 1955, this abbey now has 34 monks, I believe, ranging in age from about 93 down to twenty-somethings. On average, one man per year has been entering for the last 20 years or so. It's quite encouraging.

From the Dominican nuns at Queen of Peace monastery in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada:

We had the great joy this September of welcoming two new postulants. Marguerite is from Ottawa, Ontario, and has a background in visual arts, while Jessica is from Surrey, British Columbia, and trained in molecular biology and biochemistry. We ask you to hold them and all our candidates and novitiate sisters in your prayers as they lace their (hiking) boots and set out to follow our Lord in Dominican monastic life—for His joy and the salvation of souls!

... on October 7, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, ... Sister Marie Thomas of the Divine Word received the holy habit of St. Dominic. Born in Prince Rupert in northern British Columbia, and raised in Whistler, Sister is so grateful to be able to answer God’s call in her “home and native land” of Canada. Please pray for her perseverance and joy in the Lord!

On October 18th, the Feast of St. Luke the Evangelist, Sr. Elizabeth Marie of the Transfiguration made her Simple Profession of vows in the hands of Sr. Marie Tersidis, our prioress, and received the black veil of a professed nun. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Sr. Elizabeth Marie first encountered the Dominican Order in college and later spent time with Dominican Volunteers USA before being drawn to serve God and the world in the “holy preaching” of contemplative life. You can enjoy more photos of the profession on our website.
