My two cents: I do not think that the good we do including the wonderful holy priests we do have should cancel out our owning publicly the horror of the paedophile scandals in The Church.  Nor do I think the sins in other institutions should cancel it out.  We need to own it, the whole Church, and experience shame, sorrow and repentance for it.
