For a friend who is being abused at home

I have a 26-year-old friend who lives with her parents because her dad is very controlling. He hates her having a job and doing volunteer work, or any life that doesn't involve him. Today he beat her up (including round the head) because she refused to show him text messages she's received from friends. He is like this with all his children to an extent (recently he screamed at her brother that he hopes he gets killed, all because he happened to have headphones on and didn't respond to a question immediately), but he seems to be much worse with her. She keeps turning down dates that she wants to go on because he doesn't want her ever to get married. I don't know if he envisages her living with him forever and taking care of him, but she's struggling to cope and frightened to leave.
