i would say any system that elects someone like trump is flawed. but that's too easy to just throw out there. so consider.... did most people want trump to win? democrats didn't, so half right there didn't. most republicans wanted someone other than trump too. so what happened was a fringe plurality of republicans foisted trump through the primary and into the presidency. how can that many people being against a person be a good system?
you might insist it's good cause you like trump and he won. but consider the alternative. what if clinton won? it'd be the same thing but from the other direction.... a fringe plurality going against the majorities wishes.

if you study electoral systems, what we have is a pluralistic system because all it takes is a fringe plurality to basically set it up the way they want. i like the idea of a ranked system, which there are lots of different types. for example, if you rank someone first, they get three points, someoen second gets two point, and someone third gets one. something like that. it gives us moderation in our final pick and a broader base of support. here is more on ranked voting....

this isn't about electoral v popular voting... this is about how our voting is structured.

do you agree that the system flawed?
how would you reform it?

Lots of viable reform options. Independent redistricting boards, expanding access to voting (by locations and by time, like early voting), automatic enrollment and mandated voter reporting, shortening the election cycles (which would of avoided Trump being elected), ranked/instant-run-off voting, make politically motivated gerrymandering illegal, proportional representation (meaning that 1/3rd to 1/4th would be delegates elected at large, and would balance any imbalance at least in the lower house's political balance), eliminate the electoral college moving to a national vote (or at least eliminating the winner-take-all rule requiring proportional allotment)... just a few thoughts... But moreover the ability to choose the option of 'none of the above and reopen nomination' at the ballot box and to 'recall' vote nominees and/or elected figures including the President would be quite good... moreover in this case...
