This thread is mainly to talk about the reference section and how to improve it. It is a place to brainstorm and come up with new ideas and give us ideas on how the reference section could better serve you. It’s also were I am gong to ask phatcatholic questions about how he wants things done on the reference section. So if you want to see how phatcatholic flicks the whip to keep things in line you have come to the right place.

Phatcatholic. I think that the reference section could use the following three sections, 1. Catholic Philosophy 2. Father, Son, Holly Spirit (Trinity) 3. Sacred Scripture. Under the sacred scripture heading we could have links on supposed contradictions and errors in the bible and the like. Just some ideas of where to go next. We still have to fill up the devotion and Vatican II first but I’m just thinking ahead.

Phatcatholic I suggest that you look through what I did and do some damage control. I know there are some links that are not where they go. It is hard at times because some links could logically go under more than one heading.

But anyway the following links are links that I would like to put in the above catigories or I am just clueless where they go.

pham......................any ideas on new entries for the reference section? try to think of anything you've wanted information on but were unable to find here.

cure................i like your ideas and i agree that enties on these subjects would be useful. you are right in saying that we have to finish what we've started first. i also have some other ideas in mind

--i think we definitely need an entry for Catholic commentary on the bible. i'm not talking about explanation of a verse. i'm talking a deliberate effort to explain an entire book or books from the bible. of course, that means i'll have to wade through that amazingly convoluted online Jerome commentary, but oh well. there's also many commentaries by the ECF's that we can use.
--an entry on the different rites of the Catholic Church would be cool too, like their history and unique angles on catholicism.
--oh, and i've noticed that i don't have anything on development of doctrine. should this be an entry by itself or should it be incorporated into an existing entry, possibly Sacred Tradition?

we also have to keep in mind the scope of this project: to aid catholics in their apologetics. so i'm mainly focused on subjects that come up most often and not so much on presenting every facet of catholicism or christianity.

i'll look through the links you provided below and what you have added to the reference section as soon as i get a chance.

dude, i'm so glad you're a part of this :sadder: (happy cry)

You both are some awesome !! The reference section is soooo helpful to me and many others of course.

I have a tiny suggestion I'm not exactly sure where it would fit in the reference section or if it is already there. Is there any part of the reference section about sacramentals ? I haven't been able to find it :( I see questions about sacramentals quite a bit on open mic and wondered if it would be possible to add a few basic subjects about sacramentals and about certain popular sacramentals.

anyway that's just a suggestion ^_^ btw Phat if you need help with that Jerome Commentary let me know I can always here help.

God Bless,
Jennie

right now i only have three articles specifically about sacramentalism. these two are under "Introduction to the Sacraments" in each of the entries on the seven sacraments:

--Sacramentalism
--Sacramentalism and Inner Disposition

i also have this article under "James White" in the Anti-Catholicism entry:

--"Man-Centered" Sacramentalism: The Remarkable Incoherence of James White

related to this issue are the articles i have on relics in the Communion of Saints entry (where the "Sacramentalism" article can also be found):

Relics
--Bilbo, Frodo, and Relics
--Relics
--Sacramentalism
--Devotion to Relics
--Relics
--What Are Relics?
--Why Do We Venerate Relics?
--Keeping in Touch with the Saints

you are right tho, more could be included on this issue. right now i dont' know if i should make a new entry or incorporate this into an existing one. i'll get back to you. thanks for the input :)

pax christi,
nick

My home computer is having technical difficulties right now. We are trying to fix it and I am having intense negotiations with my wife over buying a new computer. I'll keep you up dated how that playes out. My wife is tuff, she should be a car sales women or somthing. :P Just joking honey!!! So I am not being anti-social if I have not been posting as much lately.

Also I agree that at times it is hard to find things in the reference section. What about making a index page that has all the topic heading with links that go directly to the links? Or somthing like this?

phatcatholic, i have a suggestion---how about the Bible study blueprints, Bible overviews, Pontifical Biblical Commission documents commentaries, guides like Lil Red did on which version to read in a new similar subsection in the Word phorum? the apologetics stuff on Scripture would stay here in CA phorum. Dust, what do you think?
