philothea
You know, it would be nice if the average lay person had some interaction with their Bishop BESIDES GETTING LETTERS ASKING FOR MONEY. Grumble. I mean, I know he has to do it, but could he intersperse a prayer or a good wish or an invitation to some event or other on occasion?
geetarplayer
Does your diocese have a newpaper or newsletter or anything? Maybe they could get him to write something spiritually nourishing for that? -Mark
Noel's angel
ohhh, i hate that. we have a planning for the future campaign going on in our parish and that's all we hear about- fund raising targets bla bla bla
cmotherofpirl
Every Easter Sunday our diocesean bishops line up in the front of St Paul Cathedral altar and individually bless any family who shows up. They ask you want parish your from, how things are going and talk to your children. Its a great way to meet your clergy.

I suppose he probably writes all kinds of pastoral things there. It's only a small gripe.

I'm so easily distracted.) Wow! Go Bishop Jenky! Pretty tough stuff from someone who, at first glance, seems kinda like Santa Claus... if Santa was a bishop. Thanks for the links. geetarplayer
Our bishop is very long-winded. He also always finds a way to tie a Bishop's Appeal into his homily. -Mark
MissScripture
Our Bishop never stands up for the Church. Oh, and he's always talking about how important the youth are, and how much he loves them, and yet, he rarely comes to any youth events. WYD in Toronto, he promised he'd be there. He was one of maybe 5 bishops from the midwest who missed it. I attend one of the 2 Catholic High Schools in our diocese, and we NEVER hear from him. For Lent, we did a play called The Fifth Sun, about Archbishop Oscar Romero. We took it on tour, and performed it in the Cathedral (right next door to where he lives) and he said he'd be there. Was he? NO! Although, he isn't always asking for money , so I guess it could be worse.
