Socrates Posted June 23, 2005 Share Posted June 23, 2005 Let me say that I am completely against the practice of unnecesary EMs. This position was intended to be used only in extraordinary circumstances (hence the title "Extraordinary Minister") in which the priest would be unable to give communion to all parishioners (due to remote distance, etc.) The current practice of having a bunch of old ladies distributing the Holy Eucharist at every mass is an abuse, and leads to the loss of the sense of the Holiness of the Blessed Sacrament. I refuse to receive from them. Our associate pastor tried to get ride of this practice, but ran into too much opposition.
