This has existed forever, the land seizerus. I have no problem with it as long as it is for the common good, (ie despertly needed roadways or something) but for anything commerical, pah.

It's wrong to forcibly deprive a law-abiding citizen of his land for any reason. Who is to determine what constitutes "the common good"? Anything can be argued by some lawyer to be "for the common good."

M<y problem is that it is for private development not to put in a dam or a school but for private buisness who happens to want your land.

I was just watching something on CNN(I think) and they were talking about how up in New England somewhere.....Hartford?(ugggh...I can't remember anything specific, lol) a bunch of homes and other buildings were torn down because they wanted to build a "badly needed road". That was a few years ago and the road still hasn't been built and isn't even being planned anymore.

Personally, I think this is a load of you-know-what and the Supreme Court stinks.

*end rant*

Hmm, you can impeach presidents, why can't we impeach Supreme Court justices? They're wielding way too much power nowadays. :(

when I have property of my own, it will only be confinscated over my cold dead rotting corpse. and you better believe I'll take out as many people as I can who try to come enforce the government taking away my property. they are infringing not ONLY upon natural law which gives man right to absolute private property, but upon Divine Law as such a right was commanded by God Himself in the Book of Genesis.

and the government also does not have the moral right to do it "for the common good"... that's still socialist. the government doesn't have the moral right to take private property in any case at all. nor does it have the right to impose any property tax which denies a man's ability to fully own his own land.

Not everyone reads every thread.

and honestly, if the thread isn't a total mystery as to what it is because of poor word choice, I usually don't even bother.

that smells of elderberries that if the government wants to take your land, it can and DOES.

Al, I couldn't agree with you more.

Based on that ruling, property rights in this country amount to purchasing the right to rent the land from the government until they find a better use for it.

Thats always been true. But now anyone can find a better use for it and if it will create Jobs and Taxes then the Government can use Eminent Domain and take it. As I said this isn't paying people for their homes because the valley they are in is getting flooded by a Dam, this is tearing down a nieghborhood to build a tourist shoping area.
