I might go to a Carmelite retreat!

I found an order that has the best of both worlds (for me). They are semi-contemplative, they have a daycare center for young children (I LOVE young children! They are such a joy!) AND they are having a retreat in October (same time as the Benedictine one, but I'd MUCH rather go to this one!!!)

Here's their website:

AND it means less driving time for the retreat! (Six hours vs. ten hours!)

Pray for me!!!

I have asked them for more info, and if my godmother could accompany me because I don't feel comfortable driving 6 hours alone. I asked if she could stay, but not participate.

I hope that they say yes!

I love their habit- it's so simple. I do like the wimple, but theirs looks all right without it.

Oh my gosh! The convent in St. Louis is the convent one of my friends was supposed to enter two years ago. We lost touch because her mother was dying and her family kept moving, but I wonder if she ever entered??

Have you heard of these particular Carmelites? They just seem so fun and kind. Thanks all for the prayers!!

They had a postulant Amanda last year, and she is now Sr. M. Veronica Therese. She entered with my friend's cousin (with whom I attended band camp back when I was in high school), Mary Beth Reiss, now Sr. Mary Michael.

I also met one of their postulants from last year (they become novices July 2) on a discernment retreat a while back with the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George.

If you visit the Carmelites, you should check out some of the other orders in st. louis, too! It's kind of like a mini nun run in itself. We have the Martyrs, the Carmelites, quite a few cloistered orders (including the famous Sisters), the Missionaries of Charity, Little Sisters of the Poor and the Apostles of the Sacred Heart.

I just have to get permission for my godmother to accompany me and I'm all set. Do you think they will let her stay there as long as she doesn't participate?

Is there any way you can send me a picture or find out what her last name was? I am very eager to get a hold of her.
