I'm just annoying like that. But it really is a good book.

Hmm...I've heard of that guy before...but for some reason my memory is throwing up red flags. But whatever, I trust you. ^_^

Red flags? Von Balthasar? nooo way. He is one of the best theologians of the 20th century along with Ratzinger and de Lubac. :)

de Lubac had some temporary problems, but he was a good boy and came around.

von Balthasar should throw up no red flags whatsoever, he is freaking awesome.

 von Balthasar!

this man has a freakin amazing command of the english language. its almost poetic how he describes the last things. actually, it is poetic. also, dr. martin has an uncanny ability to quote lines from famous works of fiction, especially from the works of our popular catholic authors (O'Connor, Chesterton, Tolkien, Joyce, etc.). they are always perfect for drawing out whatever point he is trying to make about death, judgment, hell, or heaven. i hear his classes are the same way (he teaches at FUS).

highly recommended

Yes they are. I have him for Trinity right now. Actually his language at times can get cumbersome when you need to get and assimiliate information systematically.

A classmate just had a baby and brings her to class. One time she started to fuss and the mommy took her out into the hall. Dr. Martin said "Oh, I think she is fine, I am much more of a distraction than she is"

Dr. Martin is among my favorite professors here. He speaks with such excellent command of language that you would think him pompous until you realized that he just really gets intellectually excited about God.

It's amazing how a personality can affect a person's writing.
