If necessary, drive there ahead of time so you know exactly where you're going and where to park. Call the person ahead of time and ask where you're parking is okay. Look like you belong. Be aware, but don't act paranoid. Don't take important wallet items, but always have a few bucks. If you get mugged, give it up. Have you're friend meet you outside. I've never been mugged or hassled. I always put myself in a good mood and relax. People have said stuff, but I've acted like it was a joke or no offense was taken without being a wimp. I'm easy and respectful. Really, it'd be no different if they meet you up at the country store and a 'buch of 'boys are hangin out front spittin. And I don't think anyone calls it a ghetto anymore. Don't make a big fuss out of it though. I highly doubt the "ghettos" over there can even stand next to the ones here. Just walk in that joint acting like you've lived there all your life.
