zunshynn
Yesterday I bought/was given a Russian icon of the Crucifixion from an antique fair. It wasn't until I was on my way home that it occurred to me that it might be a sin to buy or sell an icon that has been blessed. It's from 19th century Russia, so I'm sure that it must have been blessed before, though I don't know for a fact... Is that a sin? If not, does it need to be blessed again? Pio Nono
JMJ 5/30 - Seventh Tuesday of Easter zunshynn, It is not a sin to buy or sell blessed items, so long as one pays for the material and not for the holy object itself (for instance, when one gets a relic, one pays for the container it comes in and not the relic itself). If any sin is involved, it is on the seller's part, so don't worry. And no, it doesn't need a blessing. Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
