Anna Posted July 27, 2003 Share Posted July 27, 2003 Why did He give Himself over to Death? He is the Lamb of God, who offered Himself to the Father in atonement for the sins of the world. Just as the Israelites looked upon the image of a serpent and were healed of their mortal bites, so too, we can look upon Our Lord raised on the Cross, and know that His Sacrifice heals us of our sins. There are great paralells between the OT and NT. Jesus is the Messiah, the Promised One prophesied in the OT, born of a Virgin, Who came to save mankind.
