I think he was still in the process of mastering the avatar state when he was hit. notice how when he was hit he fell from that huge monster-cosmic image of himself? to master the avatar state he would have had to be joined with that thing, I think. he didn't actually master the avatar state, as evidenced by his look at the end when he saw katara: he was still attached to her.

either that, or the fact that the avatar state as they have described it on the show has a good offence but not a good defence. it is his most vulnerable position.

but yeah, i definitely recognized how much it looked like a pieta right there. but yeah, the whole thing's designed to be a big mix-up of many different eastern cultures, spiritualities, martial arts, and myths. well, and american culture/humor. anything we recognize in it is probably just universal themes.

Now, I wonder how long we have to wait for the series to return :idontknow:

I am almost finished encoding this season...who needs DVD's ;)

I do!

I can't say I'm a fan of Nick's DVD release system. Individually-marketed discs with only four episodes each? Yuck...

But I still bought them anyway. :D:

next season will either be late march or april from what i've heard. they'll prolly stretch it out again too.. making new episodes come out every two weeks like they've recently been doing <_<

apparently M. Night (Lady in the Water director guy) is going to do the "live-action" Avatar movie.

i dont know if M. Night is the right choice and i dont think a live action movie would suit that type of show. appa will take a long time to cg.

Oh, I hope not. Don't get me wrong, some of M Night's movies (not all, sorry) are good, but he would be the wrong person to direct a film for the Avatar. It would need to be a director who has experience directing movies that contain a lot of martial arts...maybe the guy who did Crouching Tiger, Hero, Matrix, or House of Flying Daggers. Whoever those people are they would be, imho, much better directors for an Avatar movie...

Just my .02

I just discovered a high quality trailer, the same one you can see with very poor quality recorded from comic con on youtube.

Enjoy!
