I Love this movie on St. Teresa's life, She's one of my Fave saints, and I agree the actress is wonderful, I think EWTN will show it again, I've seen it for the past couple years played the week of her Feast day!

God Bless You!

Hey, if anyone happens to have an Internat'l DVD player or is in a PAL region, there is a set of DVDs of "Teresa de Jesus" on eBay. Search under "Teresa de Jesus Concha" It's been there for a while .. I'm thinking the seller probably has several copies. I think this is out of print in Europe now .. I'm not sure .. But maybe it will be on EWTN again before October .. this is such a great movie .. and so much fun to watch ... ^_^

MC,

Sr. Teresa of Jesus that aired on EWTN last Oct. was made in 1989. Sr. Teresa was played by actress Paulina Urrutia. She was quite good. This was the movie I tried to get a copy of. I havn't seen the one you referenced above. Was it good? was it dubbed or subtitled?
Actually, the one with Paulina Urrutia, 1989, was the series on St. Teresa de Jesus de los Andes - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379666/

But the one about St. Teresa of Avila is Teresa de Jesus, starring Concha Velasco, 1984 - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088246/

I watched it last year in October, only missed taping an episode, because it was a 1/2 hr off from the scheduled time.

I've heard of another shorter one with Aurora Bautista, another Spanish actress, called also Teresa de Jesus, but have never seen this one.

Maybe they played both the series of Teresa de Jesus, and Teresa de los Andes, in the same month. I've heard the one on St. Teresa de los Andes was very good too, and long like the Teresa of Avila one. The Buffalo Carmelites recommended watching this one too actually, but I never got a chance to see it. I do remember they had this one also in their guest quarters.

But yeah, the one about St. Teresa of Avila is the one starring Concha Velasco, made in 1984. It was filmed in Spain, and when EWTN plays it, it has English subtitles. I believe the PAL DVD on eBay also has the option for subtitles in different languages.

If you haven't seen this one, it's great! I actually haven't seen the whole thing straight through myself. Just the first few parts and a couple at the end. Thanks for reminding me about the one about St. Teresa de Jesus de los Andes too, though. I would love to have that one on tape also!

Just posting the link here to the other thread with the new times this is playing - Teresa of Jesus on EWTN.

I bought this from eBay from Spain (search "Teresa de Jesus" concha) and it worked in my dvd player and Mac. Here it is available on Amazon - Teresa de Jesus.

The 2 that wrote reviews here are also Americans and didn't seem to have a problem playing them, even though they're PAL format! Awesome!!
