I side with C S Lewis on this one.
He thinks the love God sanctifies us with will flow into the things we love.
I confess, I'm racist against cats... I'm allergic to them, so I have a lame excuse. I am a dog person. My husband likes cats, but since he can't have one b/c of my allergies, he wants pet ducks or geese. I told him the day he gets birds I'm going out and getting my dog. And I do mean he wants them as PETS, like, he'd train them to follow him around and stuff. He's done it before.
Matt now has 6 ducks and I still don't have a dog. Bah.

OK, this is officially the oldest post my lazy lame search could find, and in honor of Selah's birthday I will not necrobump it.

I'm going into a grey area here, but can there be animals and plants in heaven? I don't mean ones as souls that share in the beatific vision, but rather as adornments of paradise. Not ones that existed on this earth.

And I highly doubt this is real, but it makes me laugh :hehe2:

This is literally a “church signs” debate, being played out in a southern town, between the Catholic church and a Presbyterian church that face each other across the street. From top to bottom, you will see the response and counter-response over time. The Catholics are displaying a much better sense of humor. You get the impression that the Presbyterians are actually taking this seriously!

Probably would have been funnier if the signs were switched.

All Dogs Go to Heaven as taught by the movies "All Dogs Go to Heaven" and "All Dogs Go to Heaven 2."

I mean....if they didn't, it would be "No Dogs Go to Heaven." I'm sure the movies cite the Catechism in their conclusion...

To me, heaven is a place where there are no cats.

I agree,

but the Egyptians wouldn't

There can be no animals in heaven. I deduced this on my own, a la Thomas Aquinas though.

Heaven is a place or state of perfect happiness.
Dogs make some people unhappy.
Therefore, dogs cannot be present in heaven or they would reduce the state of perfect happiness of those who don't like dogs.

Likewise, some people do not like cats.
Therefore, cats cannot be admitted to heaven, for they would destroy the state of perfect happiness of souls who don't like cats.

Likewise, birds (such as the hummingbirds that dive bombed Selah at summer camp last year) make some people unhappy.
So no birds permitted.

And so on.

And so forth.

And this same logic might apply to people that I don't like.

Everyone in heaven will be enlightened and holy and I speculate that they will love cats and dogs, seeing them in all their glory. Serious dog or cat haters might even get some purgatory time to be purified of that fault. hehe.
