Has anyone heard of or visited or live near the Carmel of Jesus, Mary and Joseph? This is the only website on them. I have corresponded with them, but I'm just wondering if anyone has had experienced with this delightful new monastery. Thank you :)

I posted something a earlier last week asking if anyone knew anything about them. I am very interested in them. Someone said they were full though. I haven't corresponded with them yet though. I wanted to know a little bit more about them before I did.

In Jesus and Mary,
Marie

They're full? That is definitely not the impression I get.

They are very loyal to the Magisterium. If you explore the monastery's construction website I linked to, you'll learn a lot about them. :) If you don't have their address and would like it, PM me.

They are the only TLM Carmel in the US that's faithful to the Pope. Therefore, they are the one Carmel that gets innundated with vocations.

One mom researching TLM vocations for her own daughter posted something about this Carmel on the "cloistered housewife" yahoo group. A daughter from one of the families entered Valparaiso.

HTH.

Blessings,
Gemma

Thy Geekdom Come

I spent a year in Lincoln and my good friend's spiritual director was the rector for the Carmelites. :) Another friend's grandfather was the custodian at the convent.

They're a great order. Of course, I've only seen the sliver of one of their faces through the veil during Communion, but they sing beautifully and I'm told they're very full of joy.

They also alternate between the Tridentine Mass and the Novus Ordo in Latin. They are very faithful to the Magisterium (and for reference, the SSPX is excommunicated in the Diocese of Lincoln, so you can't be a practicing Catholic and SSPX there).

They're convent is up on a hill off a gravel road in the middle of nowhere, lol. Very peaceful and you can see all the stars. I went to a bonfire at the custodian's house next door and we had to get quiet after 9pm or so because the sisters were in bed. They are completely cloistered (the custodian wears a bell on his belt so they can hear him coming and hide, lol). They have a cow or two and some chickens and possibly some pigs...the chapel is very small, but absolutely beautiful, and the high altar has a wonderful story behind it: http://www.catecheticsonline.com/forum/ind...ost&p=18032

You want to talk to this guy about vocations in the Diocese of Lincoln:

He used to be my pastor...very friendly man. If the answering machine says "Newman Center," it's because that's where he works (he runs the college Newman Center, thus drawing in large quantities of vocations from college students, mwahahahaha!).

God bless,

Micah

He is indeed an AWESOME Priest!!!!!!!!!! His assistant Fr. Buhman is amazing...wow! I've gone to spiritual direction and confession with him...he's great! Fr. Mayta is such a funny guy!

I have been to the Carmel and I spoke with the Mother Superior....she is a very gentle humble little soul. I encourage you to go and visit if you can. Write...and tell them of your interest....you won't know if they are full unless ya contact them! My prayers! God Bless.

Chiquitunga

Guys, I highly recommend, write to Mother Teresa there. You never really know if they're full unless you ask.

Here's a blog with some pictures of the investiture of Sr. Mary Pia of the Cross. :D

Your posts have been a help! I have been writing letters to Mother Teresa and will be visiting soon (: Are any of you discerning a possible vocation to this Carmel? They have a new community in Elysburg. Here is their link if you are interested:

A young lady from our church will be entering this summer, please pray for her.

God bless!

Queen'sDaughter

One of my friends entered this Carmel last September. They are a beautiful community, and easily the most popular among young Traditional Latin Mass ladies!

Wow old thread! That's great you'll be visiting Briananne :) A young woman who used to post here entered Elysburg in 2010 and others here have visited. I met a girl (in real life, maybe the same one!) entering Valparaiso this year too and heard they will be founding again soon .. not sure exactly how soon, but there are 33 there now.

Through these posts is how I found out about this website. I hope I get a chance to speak with other young ladies who have been there before going! The young lady from our church (she is 34) will be entering in Elysburg and she hasn't been to the convent in Valparaiso yet.

I am so happy to hear this! Do you have any idea where they will be founding a new convent? They are flooding with vocations, how wonderful! Are you also considering to join?

God Bless!
