Michigan Goes To Obama

A "redeployment" out of Michigan. McCain will "not stay the course" here. It looks like Obama is fully expected to win here; and the latest polling has been supporting that. My own eyes here are seeing that as well. I live on the "red side" of the state, but I see very little support for McCain.

Sadly, I see a lot of support for Obama among Catholics here. Including among some of my own family and within my parish.

I just took a look at Dick_Morris' map. An awful lot of blue is sweeping across it since I last looked at it just last week. States are suddenly falling to "Dear Leader" fast.
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate John McCain is giving up on winning Michigan.

Republican officials with knowledge of the strategy say the GOP candidate is shifting resources to other states. Democrat John Kerry won here in 2004, but McCain had tried to make it a target to switch parties this year amid economic problems in the state.

The news came as Barack Obama campaigned in the state Thursday.

The Arizona senator canceled a trip to the state next week, he won't run ads on TV after this week and is dispatching staffers to states that show him in stronger position.
This is sad. I'm sure the Ann Arbor Dominicans will be out in full-force voting for McCain, but the last time, while I was up there, and we went to the polls to vote, the volunteers tried to keep us out, saying "we didn't belong there."

The stinkin' pro-death party has its minions even amongst the poll workers!

Why did they say that?

I guess it's because we were all wearing Dominican habits? I figured that they didn't think religious had the right to vote???

It confused us. And then, one of the Jr. Sisters remarked, "But we're American Citizens!"

They reluctantly let us into the poll place.

We dismissed it as they were probably just shocked to see us all there to vote. Plus, they pretty much knew we would be voting for the pro-life candidate! Plus, I was under the suspicion that the area is widely liberal...I'm sure they wouldn't want us to vote if they felt they could keep us from doing so...

In the end, Michigan went to Kerry anyway...

 Maybe they were thinking "I didn't know that religious could vote." As if there is a vow against participating in elections. That's a pretty amusing story, dominicansoul.

And yet, I am pretty sure that ACORN was trying to register all Michigan elves and gnomes in recent weeks.

I despise your political views, no offense nothing about you as an individual, but if they tried to block you all from voteing you need to phone that in. You could call the ACLU or some pro-religion law firm.

Report this please.

Wow, I just took a look at a map that The Politico has up. McCain is losing in the battleground states. Notably Michigan and Ohio and Florida are all going Obama.

It doesn't look good at all. Blue might be the correct color. Or as Obama would say: "ugh, um, uhh um."

It's looking bleek for McCain... It's early, but I don't think McCain's going to be able to turn this ship around.

ETA: I will probably go into mourning if both Obama and Franken win....

To be positive about it:

A few weeks ago I tuned into the Rusty Humphreys (sp?) and I think he was in the middle of talking to someone from WND. During the conversation a great point was made.

They were discussing this: Socialism seems to be a popular idea right now; and it isn't the dirty word that it used to be. They were saying that Socialism is coming one way or another--both candidates are promising a big government and both candidates are not exactly friendly to free speech and other liberties. Neither candidate has been friendly to conservatives. More than that: Obama has close ties with ACORN, while McCain has close ties with Soros and La Raza. We ended up with two of the worse choices ever.

The point was is: Americans saw for themselves socialism fail during the depression era. Americans later saw Socialism fail after LBJ. Americans need to see Socialism fail again. Wouldn't it be better for Americans to see Socialism fail with a Democrat in the White House? It would be even better, in the end, with Democrats in control of the House and the Senate as well.

Rush Limbaugh on Friday even predicted something similar to the 1976 election. The Republican loses, but only by a little bit. And in the process Reagan Republican is set up for his fantastic run in the following election. The defeatist Dem does terrible in the White House, and the upbeat positive faith-in-America Reagan Republican sweeps into office for an 2 term presidency.

What do you think? The pay-off after a crappy four years may turn out to be better for America in the end. I, for one, am very optimistic...

Which is exactly why FDR was never carved into any mountain and is, to this very day, popularly reguarded as a poor President. :detective:

But I really don't want to move any closer than we already have towards socialism-- no matter who gets credit or blame. I don't want to raise my kids under an administration that would create more chaos than the Carter administration... Do you?
