A new Star Tribune Minnesota poll released yesterday shows a 13-point jump in support in the last month for Democratic comedian-turned-politician Al Franken, who now has his first clear lead, 43 percent to 34 percent, in the much-watched race against Minnesota incumbent Republican Sen. Norm Coleman.

The Star Tribune poll also shows support for the relatively low-profile campaign of Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley at a high watermark of 18 percent, with most of his support drawn from Coleman, in what may be an indication of local unhappiness with Washington in general and Republicans in particular. Franken continues to lead Coleman, though, in a hypothetical two-candidate matchup.
I am sooo sick and tired of the ads... they hurt my brain. I cannot stand Al Franken... I did not even think he was funny on SNL....

All I've seen are about a half-dozen attacks on Coleman, not a single one promoting his policies (assuming he has any)

boring

What? You haven't seen the "this is my fourth grade teacher and she likes me" ad? (Still not a promotion of his agenda, but at least Coleman isn't mentioned)... though, I must admit, I haven't seen that one in a long time. Just lots of attacks now, I guess. Norm, at least, does have some pro-Coleman ads amid the "Franken as pornographer" ads.

Please citizens of Minnesota, please spare the rest of the country the embarrassment of this man being a senator.

What? You don't think he'd look good in the Senate? He could open each senate day by having the senators stand and say:
I'm good enough!
I'm smart enough!
And doggone it, my constituents like me!
After the loads that they have been shoveling up on the hill they might like that.

I miss Santorum. We need others of his ilk.

Ugh I really hope Coleman pulls through on this one. Otherwise I think anyone who votes for Franken has a serious mental deficit. What makes you think THAT MAN is fit for office?!
