The Deuterocanon

We all know that certain books of the Bible aren't considered part of the canon by the majority of Protestants.

Why is this? Why were these particular books removed from "their" Biblical canon, yet included in "ours"? How do Protestants view these books? Are they acceptable for reading, but just not inspired?

Thanks in advance. :)

Why? Ultimately, as Luther admitted in debate with Robert Eck, they conflict with certain protestant beliefs. Though, they would also have some other reasons as well for example most of those books may have been written in Greek first and not Hebrew.

As to the second part of the question, it would seem that every single protestant would have a different answer from the other. But to be fair I have two protestant Bibles with the complete Canon in them, the "lost" books are however called apocrypha, which would seem to indicate how they are to be viewed.
