I cannot believe that our "Republican" government is bailing out these irresponsible financial institutions over and over again! When did we become a communist state? At least real socialists would be bailing out the little guys along with their rich friends.

If Canada wasn't so cold I would seriously consider moving.

And what's with the stock market? It's not too bad for me. Right now I can get mutual funds at a 30% discount! But my parents were thinking about retiring in the near future.

Feel sorry for those near 60 years old right now. Edited by tgoldson

what ticks me off is that if they were gonna do the bailout, then they should ask for all the money back that people made illegally/irresponsibly - those people are getting off scott-free.

and I do not like the idea of allowing some people to negotiate new mortgages at a lower home value! that's just crazy.

I actually believe that Whoopi Goldberg's idea is the most fair... if we're going to do it for some, do it for all. She proposed an across the board 25% forgiveness for all home loans taken out between 2003 and now. That way people like me - who scrimp and save and go without in order to pay their bills on time - are not punished for being financially responsible.

*points at fellow scrimper and saver* Amen!

If not for my parents I'd be sunk, I help with utilities, but I'm paying for grad school on dead end job pay. Now the irresponsible corporate titans make my savings worth less and less as they require more bailouts raising taxes, and lower interest rates so I'm making even less on my money in the bank.

Seriously... the only upside is that we can now buy mutual funds at a 40% discount... if only I had an extra $10,000 lying around...

Heh or more, 10k would nicely finish off grad school for me if I can continue to not need on campus courses...
